Chapter 741
The Shaws typically held the celebration on New Year's Eve, but this year, they switched to celebrating New Year's itself, all to accommodate Winter. Since it was her first year being married into the Harris family, she was expected to spend New Year's Eve with them. Julian and Jade decided that the family would celebrate New Year's itself from now on.
Noelle did not mind. New Year's was New Year's. If she had a choice, she would have preferred not to go back at all.
However, as a member of the Shaws and out of respect for Samuel, she knew she had to be there no matter how reluctant she felt.
Knowing she could not return empty-handed, Noelle went shopping for gifts to bring to the Shaws. However, since her relationship with Charles had not been made public, they could not go out together.Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
Charles did not feel comfortable letting her shop alone, so he called Sean to help out as the designated "porter".
To call Sean a porter was putting it nicely. He was essentially dragged over to do all the heavy lifting. Given how much Charles pampered Noelle, he was not willing to let her carry even one bag.
Sean, on the other hand, felt truly pitiful, like he had reached a new level of misery.
For example, while Noelle was excitedly picking out items up ahead, Sean trudged behind, loaded down with bags of all sizes.
He had complaints but did not dare voice them. He could only stare wide-eyed at Noelle's petite figure moving around in front of him.
Noelle, on the other hand, was having a great time shopping. It was rare for her to do so for New Year's.
Although she disliked seeing certain members of the Shaws, she was eager to see her grandfather, who had always treated her well. Most of the items she picked out were suitable for the elderly, and she even bought some high-end electronics to gift Samuel.
As for health supplements, even
though Samuel insisted every year that they were not necessary, Noelle believed that she still had to fulfill her duties as a junior member of the family.
After shopping all morning, Noelle finally seemed to remember Sean's existence. Turning around, she saw him with both arms laden with shopping bags.
Feeling a bit guilty, she reached out, "Um, Mr. Smith, you could let me carry a few."
To her surprise, Sean immediately squinted at her. "No, let's not. If the possessive Charles finds out I made his wife carry bags, I'd never hear the end of it!"
Sean sighed dramatically, looking at Noelle with a pained expression. "Honestly, Noelle, how much more are you planning to buy?"
Sean now understood firsthand the limitless shopping power of women. Many of the things Noelle deemed necessary seemed completely unnecessary to him.
Feeling slightly embarrassed, Noelle scratched her head. Just as she was about to respond, her phone rang. "Grandpa?"
"Noelle, where are you?" Samuel's warm voice came from the other end. "It's getting late. Aren't you coming over?"
"I'm on my way, Grandpa. I'll be there soon!" Noelle replied with a smile. "Just wait for me at home."
After hanging up, she turned to Sean. "Thank you, Mr. Smith. I really shouldn't have troubled you with all this."
"Oh, it's nothing. But as I said before, you can only avoid it for so long. Eventually, you'll need to make your relationship with Charles public. You can't keep using me as your cover." Sean shrugged helplessly. "Let's go. Your grandpa's already urging you."
"Yes." Noelle nodded. After paying for everything, they got into the car and headed to the Shaws'.
Since it was New Year's, the Shaw residence was decked out in festive decorations, radiating a true sense of celebration.
