My Gentle Wife is a Real Divine Being

Chapter 1054

Chapter 1054

“You think I’m scared of being caught?” Drake tried to pull his arm away, but Debra held on tightly.

In the end, Drake snapped, “Fine! I won’t go.”

The police were already closing in. Running now would only make things worse. Being dragged back in cuffs wasn’t exactly appealing.

Debra let go of him and smiled cheerfully, “Thank you for your cooperation.”

Pedro personally led the operation. Within minutes, the officers subdued the six thugs and loaded them into the vans.

Pedro glanced at Debra and pointed at Drake. “About Mr. Lowe…”

Debra explained, “Mr. Lowe is a witness. He’s cooperating with us to clear his name and assist in solving this case. Isn’t that touching, Mr. Hardy?”

“Thank you, Mr. Lowe. Much appreciated,” Pedro said gratefully.

But then he scratched his head and added, “Well, since Mr. Lowe is a witness, he’ll need to come to the station for a statement. I know it’s inconvenient, but I’m sure a generous and upright person like Mr. Lowe won’t mind, right?”

Before Drake could protest, he gestured. “Mr. Lowe, this way, please.‘

Drake shot a glare at Debra, who quickly showed an innocent expression.

“Why? It’s just a statement.”

“You…”

“And besides, riding in a police car as a witness to uphold justice? That’s an honor you’ll cherish forever.”

Drake couldn’t tell if she was mocking or praising him.

At the police station, the six suspects were being interrogated in separate rooms. From the moment they arrived, they had refused to say a word.

Drake finished giving his statement and walked out of the office.

Debra was waiting outside, frowning in frustration.

He walked over and said, “They won’t talk.”

“I don’t believe that. One of them will crack eventually,” Debra muttered.

They would be charged with possession of firearms if they stayed quiet. To save their skin, they would come clean. novelbin

Drake snorted, “Don’t be naïve. It’s not that simple. Possession of firearms might get them seven years in prison, but ratting out their boss? That would put their families and themselves in danger.”

“Are you saying they’d rather go to prison?” Debra asked.

“How many people in this world live just for themselves?” Drake said with a bitter laugh. “For the sake of their families, they’d rather serve time. Besides, when they get out, their boss will probably reward them with some hush money. With that, they’ll keep wagging their tails like loyal dogs.”

Debra fell silent, and he continued, “But then again, what would a rich lady like you understand? You value pride over survival. But for small–timers like them? Pride means nothing. Staying alive is all that matters.”
