Chapter 1004
They ate dinner at one of the restaurants inside Disney, picking from the set
menu.
Chloe poked at her curry beef and mashed potatoes, her face scrunching up with every bite. It was honestly kind of bland.
As if to distract her, Connor asked, "Ms. Rose, what's your favorite food?"
Chloe paused, thinking. "Teriyaki ribs," she said finally.
Connor looked over, a note of surprise in his voice. "You like ribs?"
Chloe nodded. She couldn't figure out why he was asking.
Then, out of nowhere, Connor smiled and said, "I actually make a great sweet and sour rib."
Chloe blinked, caught off guard. For a second, she didn't know what to say. She managed a polite smile. "I'd love to try them one day."
Connor grinned back. "It's a date."
Later that afternoon, they hit up more rides together. After the river rapids, Chloe's clothes were completely soaked through. Even the rain ponchos hadn't helped the kids-they were both drenched too.
Before they'd gotten on the ride, Connor had left his jacket outside. Now, he draped it over Chloe's shoulders.
"Let's head back to the hotel and change," he suggested.
They hurried back to their rooms. Connor was about to take Tim to his own room, but Tim clung to Chloe and Aaron, refusing to go.
Chloe gave in. "He can shower in my room first. Just bring over his clothes."
Connor nodded.
Once inside, Chloe set about getting the kids cleaned up. She shrugged off Connor's jacket and tossed it onto the sofa. Just as she was about to leave the room, something caught her eye-an embroidered detail inside the suit jacket's collar, stitched in fine gold thread.noveldrama
Just three letters.
CNR.
Custom suits often had initials sewn inside, but these three letters made Chloe freeze.
They looked so familiar.
She picked up the jacket and studied the embroidery. CNR.
Why those letters?
Her heart started pounding. Almost without thinking, she pressed a hand to her chest. Just above her heart, hidden beneath her shirt, was a scar a small, jagged mark burned into her skin.
It formed the same three letters.
CNR.
Exactly like the ones on Connor's jacket.
There was no way this was a coincidence.
A sudden suspicion gripped her.
Had they known each other before?
It couldn't be something as simple as that.
Her heart raced. For more than twenty years, Chloe hadn't remembered anything about her past. No matter how hard she tried, it was always blank. But deep inside, it felt like there was a sealed box in her mind, stuffed with forgotten things. Before, it sat quietly in the back of her head-she never had the urge to open it. She figured whatever was in there didn't matter anymore.
But ever since Connor showed up, it was like that box had started to rattle.
If they had known each other all along...
What were they to each other?
Chloe tried not to dwell on it. She
not
went to run the bath for the kids.
Aaron, being the big brother, helped Tim wash up. Tim, for his part, adored Aaron-the two of them played and splashed in the tub, giggling nonstop.
A little while later, someone knocked at the door.
Chloe went to answer it.
It was Connor.
What do you think?
