CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1612

Mr. Lucas never truly had the best interests of either of his sons at heart. Forcing them into an uncomfortable relationship, knowing their complicated dynamic, was more like raising fighting insects in a jar to see which one would survive.

Noah's expression darkened slightly as he looked at Ben's aloof demeanor. He curled his lips into a mocking smile. "I've always hated that superior attitude of yours. You're only where you are because you were born lucky." "If you're finished, you can leave," Ben said flatly, uninterested in listening to Noah's ramblings.

Noah let out a cold laugh. "You used to take everything for granted. But now that I'm here, you don't still think Lucas Corporation is entirely under your control, do you? Let's see how things go."

Ben watched him leave with icy eyes.

When the office door swung open, Jamie stepped back, her expression cool and detached, clearly unwilling to engage with Noah. But Noah, being someone who never understood boundaries, did not take the hint. "Jamie, we meet again. What did I say last time?" he said with a teasing smile.

"Mr. Vice President," she replied, addressing him formally and keeping her tone distant.

Seeing her frosty demeanor, Noah glanced back toward Ben's office with a glint of mischief in his eyes. "Working with my brother must be exhausting. Looking at his frosty face all day would wear anyone down. Why don't you come work for me instead? I'm still in need of a secretary."

A sharp, icy voice from Ben, interrupted from behind. "Noah, am I dead to you?"

Noah had been about to retort, but Jamie cut him off first, politely yet firmly rejecting him. "I'm not interested."

She didn't give the new Vice President an ounce of face, brushing past him without a second glance. Noah's smile faded, and his expression darkened for once.

Jamie walked into Ben's office, placing a stack of documents on his desk. "Mr. Lucas, these need your review."

She didn't leave immediately but instead stood there watching him.

Ben, naturally, noticed. Without even lifting his head, he said curtly, "If you have something to say, say it."

His tone was sharp, but compared to his icy tone earlier, it was an improvement.

"I'm not going to work for Noah," Jamie assured him, already aware of what was likely on his mind.

Ben paused briefly. Just a small movement, but she caught it.

"Where you go has nothing to do with me," he replied coolly, though the slight upward curl of his lips betrayed his true feelings.

Unfortunately, the situation didn't improve as they hoped. While the Old District project finally found its footing, Ben had already planned his exit. He had no interest in engaging with Noah, who had started subtly competing for projects.

But the public relations team's efforts to suppress negative rumors only seemed to fan the flames. Before long, Ben received word that the law firm had decided to revoke his license.

Surprisingly, Ben's reaction was calm. When he went to formally resign, he didn't even seem upset.

Jamie accompanied him to the law firm. Afterward, as they walked out, Ben held a neat stack of documents, his expression blank, like a still, lifeless pond.

"Ben, if you don't want to resign, maybe we could="

"There's no need." His voice was barely audible.

Jamie froze as he placed the documents aside. "Throw them away. If I can't be a lawyer, then I won't be one."novelbin

"But you've fought so hard for this," she said urgently, unable to believe he would give up on something he had worked toward for so long.

Jamie racked her brain, trying to persuade him otherwise, but Ben wouldn't listen.

For the first time, he asked her to leave. "Go home," he said quietly. "Let me be alone for a while."
