Chapter 590
Yvette rejected the invitation at first, but Kiki wouldn't stop bothering her about it. In the end, she caved and agreed to tag along.
That night, Kiki came to pick her up. When she saw Yvette's face was covered in gauze, she asked caringly, "How's your wound now, Yvvy?"
"It has gotten better now. The doctor said I could remove the gauze soon."Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
"That's good." When Kiki thought about how Yvette had been hurt the other day, she couldn't help trembling. "Let's go."
"Sure." Yvette followed Kiki into a car and asked about how Zachary was doing.
"He feels like he's at home now, and Mr. Shaw Senior is bringing him to the gathering as well. Don't worry. He has bodyguards watching him 24 hours a day now, so nothing will happen to him again," said Kiki.
Yvette nodded and said, "Kiki, I've told you about how Xavier knows Zac and Noah are his kids now, right? I think they'll be reunited soon."
Kiki thought about it too and stayed silent for a moment. "I'll talk to Mr. Shaw Senior."
Archibald loved Zachary a lot, and he would definitely be disappointed after finding out the truth.
Soon, they arrived at the open-air venue for the gathering and saw all the people they would usually see on the news.
Kiki sighed. "I thought I wouldn't have to attend events like this anymore after I got engaged. Yet, here we are again. Mr. Shaw Senior said I didn't have to work. However, as the daughter-in-law of the Shaw family, I have to meet everyone." Yvette realized Archibald really liked Kiki, and she was really happy for the latter.
As they got out of the car while chatting, they didn't realize something was approaching them directly.
"Kiki." Kiki immediately stopped talking when she heard the familiar voice. She looked up and saw Leonard, making she freeze on the spot. She only returned to her senses when Yvette grabbed her hand.
Leonard looked at Kiki with a complicated gaze before saying to Yvette, "Mrs. Lane, may I borrow her for a second?"
Yvette didn't answer him, and she looked at Kiki.
"Go ahead first, Yvvy. I'll join you later."
"Sure." Then, Yvette hurriedly walked toward the gathering.
It was lively inside, and Yvette
realized Lawrence was there as well. However, Yara wasn't by his side because she had been sent back to the detention center after Yvette had sued her again.
Just as Yvette was looking for a spot to wait for Kiki, she heard someone calling her from behind. "Yvette."
She turned around and found
Jeremiah standing behind her. When she thought about how he'd used Daphne to hurt Xavier, she started to dislike him a little. Yvette just nodded a little, looking polite and distant.
Jeremiah noticed how she reacted and calmly asked, "How is your face?"
"It's fine." Then, she turned around to leave.
However, he grabbed her arm. "Shall we talk?"
She frowned. "I've already made myself clear last time, so there's nothing for us to talk about now."
If it hadn't been for Zoey, Zachary wouldn't have been in danger, and her face wouldn't have been wounded. Yvette wanted to get out of his grip, but he held her tighter.
"Yvvy, you've misunderstood me."
"What? Didn't you admit what you did to Xavier?" she asked. She couldn't understand why the kind person from her childhood had become the way he was.
Jeremiah gulped slightly. "Have you fallen in love with him?"
Yvette was stunned. When he saw the look in her eyes, it was as if he already had the answer.
