Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now

Chapter 838

Chapter 838:

She had already troubled Ernest too much and couldn’t keep spending his money.

That sounded fair, so Hadley unlocked the phone and checked the account for her friend.

Elissa breathed a sigh of relief. “Good. There’s enough.”

Suddenly, a heavy feeling settled in Hadley’s chest. “Elissa, you have to take care of yourself.”

Elissa paused, surprised by the weight in her friend’s voice. Knowing Hadley was leaving, she smiled softly and nodded. “I will, and you too. Once you get to Blathe, don’t forget to keep in touch.”

“Of course,” Hadley replied.

They shared a quiet smile.

“Hadley, try this orange,” said Elissa, reaching for a slice. “It’s really sweet.”

“Sure.” Hadley reached out and took it. But before she could bring it to her mouth, she winced and placed a hand on her stomach.

“What’s wrong?” Elissa didn’t need to see her face to know something was wrong—her hearing had become extremely sensitive ever since she lost her eyesight. “Are you feeling unwell?”

“I’m not sure,” Hadley admitted with a frown. Her stomach felt a little strange. Kind of like right before a period, but not quite. Just… odd.

She stood up slowly and said, “I think I need to use the bathroom.”

“Okay.” Elissa followed Hadley and carefully felt her way behind her.

Hadley was pregnant. Even the smallest issue couldn’t be ignored.

Inside the bathroom, Hadley froze, and her face drained of color.

She was bleeding.

“Hadley, are you alright?” Elissa called through the door, her voice tight with worry.

The door opened. Hadley stood there, pale and shaken. She gripped Elissa’s hand with trembling fingers and asked in panic, “Elissa, what do I do? What do I do?”

“What happened?” Elissa’s heart dropped. Was it the baby?noveldrama

“I’m bleeding!”

“What?” Elissa felt a jolt run through her, but she held firm and squeezed Hadley’s hand. “Don’t panic. We’re going to the hospital. Right now. I’m coming with you.”

“Okay!” Hadley nodded quickly. This wasn’t something she could ignore. Not for a second.

Elissa went with Hadley straight to the hospital in a taxi.

The attending doctor examined her carefully, then spoke in a calm voice. “The pregnancy isn’t far along, and the bleeding isn’t heavy. Some women do experience light discharge in the first trimester. But if you’re worried, we can do a full examination just to be safe.”

Hadley breathed a sigh of relief. Still, she didn’t want to take chances and agreed to the check-up. “Yes, please. Could you arrange it?”

“Of course.”

Elissa held Hadley’s arm. “It’ll be alright, Hadley.”

Hadley nodded, her lips pressed together. “Yes. I believe it will.” The pregnancy was still early, and she’d taken every precaution from the start. She had to trust that her baby would be okay.

Later that night, Eric received a call from Marshall. It was still dark out due to the time differences. He answered groggily. “What?”
