The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter 678

Hendrix didn't offer up a response. He simply frowned at her, without even bothering to conceal the disdain and disgust in his eyes.

Ruth, of course, noticed, but her ingratiating smile never once faltered. "Really, Mr. Freeman. I can assure you that my husband-"

"Get lost," Hendrix interrupted her dismissively.

It wasn't just his tone that was dismissive. At that moment, Ruth felt as if she were seeing the same mocking gazes from earlier. She knew if she didn't do something now, her situation would only become even more unbearable than before.

However, it was obvious Hendrix had no intention whatsoever of giving her any further opportunity. Because after uttering those two words, he simply walked away without looking back.

Ruth stood frozen in place. After staring at Hendrix's retreating figure for a moment, she suddenly said, "Mr. Freeman, if you're going to be like this, don't blame me for telling Noelle everything."

Hendrix paused in his tracks. Then, he turned to look at her over the shoulders with a hint of confusion in his eyes.

Ruth chuckled coldly. "Don't even think for a second I don't know anything. The baby that Sandra was carrying was yours, wasn't it?"

As soon as she finished speaking, Hendrix immediately spun back around to face her, his gaze sharp and cold.

Ruth couldn't help but tremble, but she quickly straightened her back and continued, "Sandra may be in prison now, but that doesn't mean everything's been resolved. And that baby Sandra lost back then, you've always known it was her doing, right?"

The moment Ruth's voice fell, a loud thud came from behind Hendrix-something had fallen to the ground. He immediately turned around.

Noelle was standing not far from him. At that moment, she wasn't looking at him. Instead, she was crouching down to pick up the

phone she had just droppede net

With

her head lowered and her bangs covering her eyes, it was impossible to see her expression.

Still, Hendrix felt his heart skip a beat, and without a second thought, he quickly stepped forward. He wanted to help her pick up the phone, but before he could touch it, she deftly snatched it away from him.

Hendrix immediately frowned.

Witnessing their interaction, Ruth took a few steps closer. "Oh, Noelle, you probably don't know this-but before you two got married, Sandra once asked him if he would marry her instead if you hadn't come back. He gave her a definite 'yes.

"So really, marrying you was nothing more than fulfilling an obligation t never mattered who it was-as long as his family arranged it, he wouldn't have said no. It just so happened that the person was you."

"You'd better shut your mouth!" Hendrix turned around, his gaze sharper than ever. It was as if he wanted nothing more than to tear Ruth apart on the spot.

To be honest, this was the first time Ruth had seen Hendrix show such intense emotion. But instead of being afraid, she raised her chin and met his gaze head- on provocatively.

At that moment, Noelle suddenly said, "I know."noveldrama

That simple, weightless sentence sent a jolt through Hendrix. He immediately whipped his head around to look at Noelle, forgetting about Ruth entirely.

Noelle smiled faintly and said to Ruth, "I don't need you to tell me all this. I've always known from the beginning."
