Did Ruby lie to Gary and Julia? Was that why they thought Jessica was the mistress and treated her so terribly?

Casper decided to investigate. He contacted a trusted friend and asked for help determining the identity of the child Ruby was raising.

His friend asked curiously, "Why are you looking into this?"

Casper replied impatiently, "I just want to know who the child's real father is."

He did a quick calculation based on the child's birth year and realized that at the time, he had been in university-thousands of miles away from Ruby.

There was no way the child could be Casper's. What were Gary and Julia even thinking?

His friend seemed to catch on. "Has Ruby been telling people the child is yours?" Casper neither confirmed nor denied. "I suspect so, but I need to be sure."

His friend replied, "Got it."

It didn't take long for the investigation to yield results, and his friend soon returned with an answer.

"Ruby got pregnant while she was in university. Apparently, she had a huge crush on the campus heartthrob. She confessed her feelings, but when he rejected her, she got together with another guy who had been pursuing her.

"Ruby said that the campus heartthrob would regret losing her. Well, he did regret not making things clear with her sooner. However, she thought he didn't react because she and her boyfriend weren't close enough to make him jealous. So, she became intimate with her boyfriend.

"A few months later, Ruby dropped out of school. No one knows exactly what she did then, but eventually, she returned, graduated, and somehow ended up with a child. My guess? The kid belongs to that boyfriend."

He then sent Casper details about Ruby's boyfriend.

After thanking his friend, Casper forwarded the information to his parents. He no longer cared what happened next.

Julia, who had been chatting with him, noticed his face change and quickly leaned over. "What's wrong? The child isn't Casper's?"

Gary tapped onto the phone Casper had sent, his face growing even grimmer. He was at a loss for words.

Julia stared at the screen, stunned. "This man looks exactly like Ruby's child."

Gary felt slightly light-headed as he analyzed the situation. "Has Ruby been lying to us this entire time? Jessia was never the mistress and didn't interfere in their so-called relationship. Ruby and Casper were never even together? She had another man's child and tried to pin it on Casper.

Julia's eyes welled with tears. "So we've misunderstood Jessica all this while? Not only did we mistreat her, but we also despised her child. What do we do now?"

"Casper said he won't acknowledge the child. Cody is our only grandson, but he wants nothing to do with us," Gary said, sighing.
