The Mafia Bride (Katrina and Silas)

Chapter 39

The air in the room telt suffocating and I struggled to breathe.

My chest rose and fell, panic filling me.

How did this happen?

What was Marcos doing here?

Different questions ran through my mind and I struggled to get an answer.

My heart pounded in my chest as I locked eyes with my father, the smirk on his face taunting me.

I only came here because Matthew wanted to get something so how did this happen?

The realization hit me like a brick and I gasped.

The bastard knew my father would be here all along, he pulled the here just to give me away to him. Does he work for him?

I turned to Matthew, searching his face for an explanation, for anything that would make sense.

But all I saw was indifference. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

He shrugged his shoulders like this was normal, and he didn't care, and that cut deeper than any words could.

I was only the foolish one at the end.

I trusted him just because he had stopped Chris from taking me but I forgot this was the mafia, and everyone has ulterior motives for helping you

If he knew he was going to do this in the end, he could have just let Chris take me.

Or was it his plan all along? Was that why he approached me? Because he wanted to take me back to Marcos.

What would he gain from that?

"Matt" My voice came out as a whisper, barely holding back the disbelief.

I was hurt and it was written quite obviously on my face. I had never expected this..

His lips curled into a smirk, his eyes curving at the sides.

To him, it seemed this betrayal was nothing more than a game, and he didn't care.

"Have you been well, Katrina?" My father's voice cut through the silence and my head snapped to him immediately.

He was staring at me with indifference, his eyes cold as if he wasn't talking to his daughter, who had just been kidnapped.

I thought I had escaped this man, but I was led right here because of my stupidity.

I gritted my teeth in anger, not at Chris, but at myself.

"I asked you a question, Katrina,"

The way Father pronounced my name sent a shiver down my spine. He always used that tone when he wanted to hurt me.

I swallowed hard, my throat dry.

"Good. I've been good."

That seemed to be the wrong thing to answer because his eyes squinted, turning into narrow slits.

"Exactly."

He raked his eyes over me, a mocking smile tugging at his lips.

I tried to take a step back but Matthew pushed me further with his palm.

"You don't look like someone who's been kidnapped. You look quite comfortable."

My breath hitched as his words sank in.

I was dressed in a fine gown, draped in jewels with my hair styled perfectly.

He wasn't wrong.

I didn't look like the victim I was

But this wasn't the comfort he imagined.

Anger filled my body and I folded my hand into a fist.

He had left me with his enemy, for weeks. Knowing fully well how much Silas hated him.

And what he says is that I seem fine.

He doesn't care about what had happened, how I had fared.

But apparently, I looked fine, so I was fine.

"Appearance can be deceiving Marcos. Just because I look it doesn't mean that I'm it. You, of all people, know that" I spat, my voice filled with pain.

All the torments my so-called father had put me through filled my mind, and I tightened my fists more.

I should have just listened to Silas and stayed put.

Marcos took a step closer, his gaze narrowing.

He seemed unfazed by my outburst right now.

"I don't know what kind of relationship you've built with Silas or how that man is still breathing. But you're going to be very useful to me, Katrina."

His eyes glistened evilly and I knew that this wasn't going to be good.

To him, it had always been about how useful I was and what benefits I would bring to him.

"What are you talking about?" I hissed, folding my arms across my chest.

He was stupid if he thought I was going to help him do anything

"You'll help me get something important from Silas. Documents Leverage." His tone was calm and confident, as though I had no choice in the matter. What?

My blood ran cold immediately.

Silas.

He wanted me to betray Silas

He wanted me to steal from Silas and bring it to him but the very thought made my stomach turn.

I didn't know when it happened or how, but I couldn't stand the lea of being the one to hurt Silas.

I wouldn't do this.

I wouldn't mind him taking me home right now, as long as I do hurt Silas

"No." I blurted out before I could think. "I won't do it."

The room seemed to freeze for a moment, tension thickening in the air.

Father stared at me silently, what seemed to be surprise written on his face.

I had never said no to him before, never gone against what he wanted me to do.

I just say yes, and go ahead with it.

But for the first time, I said no.

Before I could react, Matthew's hand shot out from behind me his fingers twisting into my hair.

He yanked my head back, and I gasped, pain searing through my scalp as I reached out to hold his hands behind me

"Be respectful," Matthew hissed, his voice dark and cold.

So this was the true face beneath the facade. He was Marcos' henchman,

I winced, biting my lip to keep from crying out.

"And why won't you be able to do that, Katrina?" Marcos asked, taking a step towards me.

He was using that tone again, the one that's supposed to make me scared.

"I don't even know where his office is. He doesn't let me leave my room and I always have people following me. Plus, there are cameras all around the house; I would be seen if I even tried, I cried out, and Marcos instantly let go of my hair. Then you find a way. Get closer to him, seduce him. Use your body. But I need that File," Marcos said with finality and I nodded my head.

I wouldn't be doing that, but I just have to make him believe so

"Do you understand, Katrina?" He asked and I raised my eyes to meet his.

""Yes, Father,"

This couldn't be happening.

Just as I thought I couldn't take it anymore, the door to the room slammed open with a thunderous bang-

Silas

His silhouette filled the doorway, his eyes blazing with fury. His gaze darted from Matthew's grip on my hair to my father's smirk, and I saw the rage building in him, sharp and deadly.

Relief flooded my chest my breath catching in
