The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus)

Chapter 530 Childhood Sweethearts, Loving Couples, All Just Illusions

Hector experienced deep sadness and remorse when he thought of Sky. As the Walker Group's heir, Sky had been raised by his parents with great expectations and dreams. However, due to Emma's actions, he found himself incarcerated.

"Mrs. Jenkins Senior, let's put this behind us," Hector said, pushing down his unease and trying to maintain a steady tone.

Yvette's lips twitched slightly. She lifted her teacup, took a sip, and then resumed speaking at a deliberate pace. "The man returned and somehow managed to contact Vivian, who was already married to Charles.

"He informed Vivian that it was the Jenkins family who had knocked him out and secretly sent him abroad. He claimed to have suffered immensely abroad. Vivian couldn't fathom the hardships he had faced. Upon hearing his story, she and the man embraced and cried together.

"Following their emotional release, Vivian had an affair with him and spent the night with him. Later, she handed the man some money, instructing him to go into hiding and assuring him of her financial support. While aiding this man, she was also seeking a way to divorce Charles.noveldrama

"She managed to keep her relationship with the man hidden from Charles for some time. However, during one of their meetings, a maid from the Jenkins family saw them. My father was enraged. He promptly had Vivian and the man brought back to the Jenkins residence.

"Before Vivian, my father severed one of the man's fingers. My family had paid him two million to leave the country and vowed never to come back to Dithoria or reach out to Vivian. He broke his contract, so my father's punishment was warranted.

"However, Vivian refused to listen or believe their words. Her resentment toward my father and the entire family intensified. She even accused me of not agreeing to marry Charles in her stead back then.

"Charles had always had a soft spot for her. We were childhood friends and grew up with him. His romantic affections were always directed at her. To him, I was always like a younger sister.

"I never had romantic feelings for Charles. I thought of him as a brother, so marrying him in her place was out of the question.

"Looking at Vivian's desperation regarding the man, my father, in a burst of anger, tossed the signed contract with the man before her. He also compelled the man to confess that he had left her with the Jenkins family's money.

"After confessing, the man abruptly seized a knife and plunged it into his own heart. As he lay dying, he alleged that the Jenkins family, along with my father, had coerced him. He declared that since he couldn't be with Vivian in this life, he would reunite with her in the next.

"The man passed away right before Vivian and the rest of us. For a moment, Vivian was in shock, but then she lost control. She wept uncontrollably, hurling the harshest curses she could imagine at us, her own family.

"Overcome with rage, my father slapped her twice. Despite this, Vivian held onto the man tightly. I remembered how she looked as if her spirit had been broken. She endured my father's scolding and blows, yet refused to release her grip.

"After that, when the primary care physician came to check on Vivian, he revealed that she was pregnant. This news seemed to revive her. My father wanted to tell Charles about the pregnancy, but Vivian abruptly grabbed a knife and pressed it to her throat.

"She warned my father and the entire Jenkins family to keep silent. That's when we understood that the baby she was carrying wasn't Charles's-it belonged to the man. The child is Cassie. My family both couldn't risk a scandal. After careful consideration, my father chose to keep it under wraps.

"Vivian, who had previously threatened suicide to get what she wanted, unexpectedly settled down. She went back to the Holden family. While we aren't sure what she said to Charles, he soon enthusiastically announced that he was going to be a father once more.

"Throughout her pregnancy, Charles was extremely attentive to Vivian's needs, and she shifted her focus from her earlier melodramatic ways to getting ready for the baby.

"Once the baby was born, her relationship with my family got much better. Yet, whenever we observed Charles cradling Cassie with such care, as if she were a rare treasure, guilt gnawed at us.

"Vivian had lied to him, and the Jenkins family was complicit. But for the sake of the alliance between the two families and our joint ventures, my family had no choice but to keep this secret.

"For Cassie's one-month celebration, Vivian suggested hosting a sip and see party for her daughter at the Jenkins family home. I'm not sure what she told my father, but he consented.

"On the day of the event, the Holden and Jenkins families initially welcomed guests at a hotel before moving to the Jenkins residence for a more private sip and see gathering for Cassie.

"Vivian, driven by a moment of insanity, laced the food and drinks with sleeping pills, aiming specifically at the Jenkins family."

Yvette's eyes were red and weary as she spoke, her hand shaking while holding the teacup. "Not even the maids were spared. During the night, as the household slept, she ignited multiple fires in the Jenkins family residence.

"I owe my life to Cindy's mother, who had gone out to buy flowers for me. She risked everything to rescue me from the blaze. She attempted to return for my mother, but tragically, she didn't make it out," Yvette recounted, tears quietly flowing down her cheeks.

She continued, "That's why I

assisted Cindy in moving Emma to the Walker family. I felt indebted to her mother and vowed to mak

sure

her descendants would live like royalty. I instructed Grace to transfer Emma to the Walker family and move Natalie to the Langley family.

"However, I wasn't responsible for what happened to Selena. Grace acted on her own. She has deluded herself to the point where she shifted all the responsibility onto me. Grace is just worthless, a complete waste."

Hector was appalled by what he had learned. Without Yvette's explanation, both their generation and their parents' generation would have stayed entirely ignorant of the true history behind everything.

"Mrs. Jenkins Senior, what happened after the fire?"

"Vivian feigned trauma and illness after starting the fire. Her act wasn't entirely false. After Cassie's birth, she had ingested a slow-acting poison. She paid off the doctor to convince Charles that her weakness was a result of giving birth.

"Her fragile condition, exacerbated by her resentment to start the fire at the Jenkins residence, resulted in her extended illness. Vivian harbored a desire to die, essentially contemplating suicide. She hoped to instill guilt and a sense of responsibility in Charles.

"She secured a promise from Charles to ensure Cassie and Wesley were raised well. With tears in his eyes, Charles consented to all of Vivian's demands and even assisted in burying the entire Jenkins family. Despite this, I find it impossible to forgive him.

"He had a feeling that something was amiss, yet he still chose to leave when. Vivian told him to. Vivian

didn't love Charles. Her ne

was for him to take care of Cassie, with Wesley being merely an afterthought. After all, Wesley was Charles' son while Cassie was the child of the man she truly loved.

"Charles felt that something was off at the sip and see party, but Vivian's call expressing her unease prompted him to leave the Jenkins family sooner than planned. Had he remained, Vivian might not have managed to start the fire, and the Jenkins family could have been spared.

"Following Vivian's death, Charles was devastated. He vowed to never remarry and to dedicate himself to raising their children. Unbeknownst to him, Vivian had viewed him as merely an adversary, someone she had manipulated.

"Vivian fabricated the whole notion of childhood sweethearts and loving partners for him. It was merely an illusion."
