Chapter 210
Just then, the door opened, and Sheldon walked in. Rachel stood up and politely greeted him.
"Mr. Smith."
Sheldon couldn't help but stare at Rachel a little longer, seemingly dazed.
Rachel's looks were out of this world. She had a hot figure and a cold, graceful demeanor. Everything about Rachel made Sheldon want to win her over. "Long time no see, Ms. Carter. You've gotten even prettier," Sheldon commented.
Rachel politely replied, "Thanks, Mr. Smith. You're flattering me."
Austin simply sat there, acting like he was the big shot. "You're here, Sheldon. I used to work with William, but this is the first time I'm doing business with you.
"You seem pretty sharp. With you in charge, the Smith family's going to soar even higher."
Sheldon beamed at Austin and found himself a seat. "Grandpa sent me here. Honestly, I'm pretty busy myself, so let's cut to the chase. What's this all about, Mr. Stanford Senior?"
Seeing that Sheldon was playing dumb, Matthew had a hunch that things might not turn out well.
Austin flashed him a smile and responded, "Even though I'm not feeling well, I'm still concerned about how the medical industry in Lambda City is doing, especially since I've been a senior figure in this field here.
"I have a small request, Sheldon. Focus on your own business and stop causing trouble for others. Return the herbs, and don't sabotage the Carters' business. Can we count on you for that?"
Sheldon shrugged. "What herbs? I've no idea what you are talking about. Regarding what you asked, listen carefully. I'm the person in charge of where the Smith family is heading. Nobody gets to tell me what to do." Austin gaped at Sheldon in surprise.
He twitched his mouth. "Are you aware of who you're speaking to? Do you know my position? No one in Lamda City's medical industry dares to disrespect me."
Rachel's expression darkened. She knew things wouldn't go smoothly, but she didn't expect Sheldon to be so arrogant.
Matthew, on the other hand, sat quietly and watched the scene unfold.
Sheldon fixed his cold gaze on Austin. "Yes, I'm talking to you, old geezer. You're barely hanging on, and you're still out here making a fuss.
"It doesn't matter how influential you are in Lambda City. Do you want me to call Kevin Price and remove your son and son-in-law from their positions?"
Austin was horrified. He stuttered, "Do you know Kevin? William has never mentioned that before."
Sheldon coldly replied, "Grandpa likes to keep a low profile. He gave you some money to avoid hassles. Now that you know, get out of my face." Austin was left speechless, and his expression darkened. He was so confident earlier, but Sheldon just told him to get lost, leaving him humiliated. Right then, Austin's face was so grim that he looked like a ghoul from a horror movie. He got up and made a hasty retreat with his tail between his legs. Sporting a smirk, Sheldon leaned back in his chair and gazed at Rachel with narrowed eyes. "So, this is who you found? You might as well come straight to me." Rachel looked at Sheldon, who stole her herbs and gave her a hard time. She took a deep breath, fearing she might snap and make a scene on the spot. The Smith family was quite formidable. Even if there was only a slim chance, she didn't want to have a feud with them. "Are the herbs with you?"
Her tone was gentle and friendly, as though she was chatting with her close friend.
Sheldon nodded. "Yes. The herbs are in my possession. All you need to do is agree to one condition, and I'll return them to you immediately."
Realizing that the Smith family was about to state their terms, Rachel looked serious. They went through such lengths, so they must have been up to something big.
Seeing that it was time to lay it all out, she anxiously replied, "Go ahead. Tell me what you want."novelbin
With a cheerful smile, Sheldon gazed at Rachel. "Jeffrey fell in love with you. He wanted to marry you into the Smith family. Unfortunately, he was murdered. So, I want to fulfill his wish and marry you into the Smith family."
