THE FORGOTTEN LUNA

Chapter 37

LADESSA.

I wiped the drool from the corner of my lips and scooted my body closer to the warmth I was hugging. I was already being pulled back to sleep when I realized I was leaning on a hard torso. I didn't mind it at first, as I was so used to this position until it dawned on me that I

didn't have the privilege to do this anymore.

My eyes snapped open, and I tilted my head up only to meet Kael's gaze. He was already looking at me.

Did he see me wipe my drool? Or worse, did my saliva drip onto his chest?

"Hi..." I mumbled, but my hand quickly covered my mouth. I didn't want him to smell my morning breath, but he was not even bothered at all by the looks of it.

He smiled broadly at me before he winked, making my forehead crease.

What was the wink for?

Kael didn't move and remained looking at me, the wide smile still plastered on his face.

Until it slowly sank into me why he was smiling too much.

Half of my body was almost on top of him. My arms were wrapped around him, and one leg was coiled around his hips, resting on top of his crotch, which I was certain was hard. He had a hard-on.

But then, it was natural for men to have a morning wood when they woke up, so I was the one who made this position awkward.

I smiled sheepishly at him, scrunching my nose as I removed my legs and arms away from him. "I'm sorry... I got too comfortable."

"No, harm done. You're not that heavy. I can still breathe." He said before placing both arms under his head while I lay completely on my back and stared at the ceiling.

Why did we end up in this position?

I remembered crying, and he hugged me, whispering consoling words. He promised he would get me out of this mess. I had no idea how, especially because he was an Alpha. Protecting a criminal would mean committing a crime against justice, too. "I slept so well," I mumbled, and all the while, I kept the beating of my heart steady.

"I think so if I base it on how the bed shook with your snoring." He said before snickering, and the ambiance felt like home despite the room being too small and crowded for both of us.

Kael's statement was so familiar. On days I asked him if I snored, he would always answer the same whether it was a bed, a couch, or the car shaking.

It brought a smile to my lips. He couldn't remember me or us, but he was subconsciously saying things he was used to.

"As much as I love the smile on your face, Miss Adessa, we need to start moving."

"Where are we heading?"

"I'm taking you home," he replied.

I got up from lying down and looked at him. "Are you sure? Won't that cause any problems with you?" It was not just about protecting a

fugitive but with Desiree as well net

Unless, of course, he believed me that Desiree cheated on him and

he'd break it off with her later on.

Kael stood up from the bed and grabbed his pants. He put them on while his back was facing me, and all I could do was stare, my eyes marveling at the sight of his back covered by only his boxers.

I used to trail my fingers on his back and smack his ass before running away. And he would grab me before I could, and more often than not, it would lead to us having sex.

"I'll think about the consequences later on." He said, snapping my mind from running filthy memories in my head. "What's important is that I have you nearby. It's hard to plan something when I'm not sure if you're safe or not."

I bit my bottom lip, tempted to tell him Miranda sold me to Alpha Draco so she would probably tell him I was back home.

But then, I was not sure what his relationship with Miranda was like at the moment. What if I turned out to be the bad person again, like last time when he saw me yelling at her? Maybe he would think I was trying to ruin Miranda's image. Think, think, Adessa.

"Kael... How do we get there if we don't use Rasmus' car?"

""I'll rent a car."

"It'll cost you."

"It'll cost me more having people track you, Adessa. So don't think about expenses. I have no one to spend my money on, so I decided to use it on my wife instead."

"I'm no longer your wife." I softly chuckle, but that hurts.

"I think I have a problem with my head because I keep forgetting that." He winked at me. "Get up, snore queen. We need to get going."

I giggled as I stood up. I decided to tell him about Miranda in the car, and if he turned out to be on her side and the real bad guy in my story-who sold me to Draco-I would jump out of his car and roll to death.

Yeah, right. He would pretend to run away with you to get your trust instead of just grabbing you and sending you to hell.

I let out a huff. I should not doubt Kael. If I told myself I would trust him, I should trust him.

I began to move and picked up my backpack, all the while feeling his stare on me. No matter my confusion, I liked that he was silently watching me like he used to. But I knew the compliments would never come-the ones I always get from him. Kael was not shy about showering me with those, and I missed them. A woman could never get used to it, which helped build my confidence.

I stepped out of the bathroom with

the same clothes I had last night

when we came here, and my eyes swiftly scanned the room. It was already tidied up. I shouldn't be surprised as Kael was never a messy man and had always looked after himself-just one of the reasons that made me fall for him every day.

"You really look lovely in a dress. You should wear those more often than pants." Kael said, breaking the silence between us.

"Dresses are not good clothes for

running," I replied as I tucked all my belongings in my small bag, a smile itching to come out of my lips because that was a

compliment-and coming from him

surely made my morning. "I'm ready

when you are."

I tilted my head and saw him looking at me with a face devoid of emotion. "I'll make sure you won't need to run any time soon." He said.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

"Thank you." I smiled at him.

"You don't need to thank me. It's my fault you're in this mess," he said as he took the bag from me after I zipped it up. "I just need to figure out who's messing up our lives."
