The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella)

Chapter 997

Mirabella quickly served him a piece of ribs, placing it on his plate. "Of course!"

Zach picked up his fork, gave her a playful glare, and said shamelessly, "My heart's hurting, you better cheer me up."

Mirabella's cheeks twitched.

As they finished their meal, Zach checked a text on his phone, then turned to his sister. "By the way, Owen invited me for lunch tomorrow. Are you free?"

Mirabella shook her head. "Nope, got plans."

Her coursework wasn't too heavy lately, but she had just started with Zane's research team, and it was bound to be hectic at the beginning.

After a pause, Mirabella suddenly looked at Zach. "You and Owen that tight now?"

"Not really, we just chat occasionally. He wanted to recommend me for a position in the prosecutor's office a while back," Zach replied.noveldrama

Mirabella raised an eyebrow. "So, I might have a brother living off the government soon?"

"I turned it down," Zach shrugged and added, "I can't stand all that bureaucracy, it's exhausting."

Mirabella nodded, thinking about the evening's events. "I support you. Government jobs might be stable, but being a lawyer is more lucrative."

Zach glanced at her, always thinking about money.

"Alright then, I'll let Owen know I'm not interested," Zach said.

"Okay."

After dinner, Zach stayed in the living room for a while, chatting before heading upstairs to delegate some work to his team.

Mirabella nestled on the couch, watching the news.

Nick sat beside her, having listened to Mirabella and Zach's conversation while working on his laptop.

He was inputting a piece of code into a program when the news on TV mentioned a terrorist attack in a foreign country. He glanced up briefly before turning back to his sister. "Didn't know you liked watching the news."

Mirabella, hugging a pillow, yawned and said with sleepy, alluring eyes, "Just to pass the time when I'm bored."

Nick chuckled and said, "If you're tired, you should go to bed."

Mirabella nodded, turned off the TV after the reporter finished, and pondered over the recent cyberattack on the national security building. She then said, "By the way, Nick, the news says things have been unstable lately. You're kind of a public servant now, so be careful."

After returning from abroad, Nick had been recruited by a junior colleague into the National Health Institute. Although he currently held a temporary position, his overseas qualifications meant it wouldn't be long before he received a permanent

one.

Nick was taken aback by her sudden concern, paused, then replied, "Okay, I'll be careful."

"Good." Mirabella didn't say much more, placed the pillow aside, stretched lazily, and got up from the couch. "Then you should also rest early, Nick. Don't stay up too late."

"Will do." Nick pointed to his computer, smiling. "I'll head to bed as soon as I finish this last bit."

Mirabella hummed in response, but her gaze unintentionally swept over his computer screen, pausing slightly when she saw the program code he was writing.

Was Nick interested in data processing?

Nick didn't notice Mirabella's gaze, his attention returning to the computer program.

He had taken computer science courses in college and even participated in programming competitions as a hobby, winning two silver medals.

Though he wasn't a hacker, he had a natural talent for software programming. Goodnight, see you tomorrow, lovelies~~
