Chapter 20 Filing a Complaint
Emily snorted coldly, "Don't call me that so intimately, it sounds disgusting."
Sophia didn't plan to pretend anymore either. She glared at her. "Did you instigate something in front of Michael? He clearly promised to take me to the Smith Family dinner the day before yesterday. Did you stop him from taking me there?" Emily found her words amusing. No wonder Michael suddenly mentioned to Mason about their divorce yesterday. It turned out that he wanted to bring Sophia to the family dinner.
"Do you want to know so badly? Why don't you ask your Michael? Do you think just anyone can attend the Smith Family dinner?" Emily sneered, "What status do you have to attend? Michael's mistress?" Sophia's face turned ugly, and she glared at Emily with gritted teeth. "What are you so proud of? The divorce agreement is already drafted. Just wait to be abandoned by Michael."
Emily smiled indifferently. "Really? What if I don't sign? I'll always be Michael's legally wedded wife, and you'll just be a mistress." Emily knew exactly what words would hurt Sophia.
Sure enough, Sophia raised her hand to hit her, but Emily quickly grabbed her wrist and pushed her away forcefully.
Emily said, "Do you think I'm still the Emily who would let you hit and scold without fighting back? Get lost."
As Abigail would say, in this round against Sophia, she won completely.
"Aren't you afraid she'll go complain to Michael?" Abigail asked with a smile after sitting down.
Emily didn't care at all. "I hope she will. Otherwise, how can Michael divorce me?"
Abigail looked at her, feeling that the current Emily was like a supporting character turning the tables as the protagonist.
"It seems like you've really figured it out. You're not clinging to Michael anymore?" She knew how much Emily used to like Michael. She liked him so much that she lost herself, humbling herself. "No." She had been lying to herself for so many years, from youth to now, for eight years. She wouldn't keep dreaming anymore. All her passion had been vanished.
"Well, as long as you've figured it out. Let's focus on our careers. Who cares about Michael?" Abigail encouraged her.
Emily shook her head and smiled. 'Yes, let's focus on our careers. After all, Isabella's medical bills aren't cheap.'
On the other side, Sophia indeed complained to Michael and cried, but Michael was being pestered by Joshua, the head of Moonlit Treasures.
"Mr. Smith, please help us. Nicholas Jackson, the head of Phantom Beauty, will be in Emerald City in a week. We really can't handle him." Joshua was almost in tears as he spoke. Michael pinched his eyebrows in frustration. He had been listening to Joshua's complaints all morning.
"Get out, get out." Finally, he couldn't bear it anymore and raised his hand to have Andrew kick him out.
"Mr. Smith, Nicholas will indeed arrive in Emerald City in a week. Do you need me to schedule a time for you?" Andrew checked the schedule and said truthfully.
"Okay." Michael pondered for a moment and then answered.
As soon as Andrew left, Sophia ran in crying and hugged Michael without a care. "Michael."
Michael was stunned and pulled her away from his embrace, putting some distance between them.
"What happened? Who bullied you?" He took a tissue to wipe her tears.
Sophia exaggerated the incident at the café with Emily. But instead of getting angry, Michael asked with hidden joy, "Did she really say she wouldn't sign the divorce agreement?"
Sophia's face stiffened, a trace of resentment flashing in her eyes. She nodded. "Yes, Emily also said she would only divorce if she got half of your assets."
Sure enough, Michael's face darkened upon hearing this. "Impossible. I won't give her a single cent, let alone half my assets." Michael couldn't believe she wanted so much money, but then again thought, 'Didn't she marry me for money in the first place?' So he believed Sophia's words even more.
"Michael, when will you divorce her?" She couldn't wait to become Mrs. Smith.
Michael didn't answer, instead asking a seemingly unrelated question, "Is your leg fully healed?"
Sophia's eyes flashed with disappointment, but she smiled and nodded. "Yes, it's fully healed. Thank you for your concern, Michael. But..." She suddenly hesitated.
"What is it?" Michael was very tolerant of Sophia. As long as her requests weren't too excessive, he would agree.
"Michael, can I ask you for a favor?" Sophia mustered the courage to continue, "You know I studied jewelry design in college, but my mom forced me to learn dancing. I still prefer jewelry design. Can I work at Moonlit Treasures? I know they need jewelry designers now, and I want to give it a try."Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
Michael smiled gently. "I thought it was something big. I agree. You can report to Moonlit Treasures tomorrow."
Sophia was naturally happy to get Michael's approval, but she was still concerned about his divorce with Emily. Seeing his bad mood, she didn't bring it up again, knowing this matter couldn't be rushed. "Okay, thank you, Michael. I'll report tomorrow."
After Sophia left, Michael called Emily, but she didn't answer. After discussing with Abigail, Emily went home and locked herself in her room to work on design sketches.
A week later, Abigail brought both good and bad news. The good news was that Nicholas, the head of Phantom Beauty, had chosen to collaborate with Moonlit Treasures. The bad news was that Sophia had joined Moonlit Treasures' design department a week ago and had quickly become the head of the first design department.
If Michael hadn't involved in this, Abigail wouldn't have believed it.
"Emily, should we still collaborate with Moonlit Treasures?" As an outsider, she really had no chance against Sophia. If things went wrong, it would be hard to clean up the mess.
Emily didn't think so. Instead, she calmly said, "Yes, we'll collaborate with Moonlit Treasures." Because she already had an idea. She wanted Sophia to taste the feeling of losing all reputation.
Emily thought, 'Michael wants to protect her. I will tear off Sophia's hypocritical mask.'
The late autumn night was very cold, especially at Emerald Lake Manor, which was near the sea and surrounded by mountains on three sides.
But fortunately, the villa had a constant temperature system, so she didn't feel cold. However, she didn't expect Michael to lock her outside for some inexplicable reason.
At this moment, she was already shivering with cold.
