MISTAKE 244
Chapter 244: Her Rage
Why was he acting as though he was doing her a favor by getting her good interviewees. Anyone who did not know would have thought he was a good boss. If she was ignorant of his scheme, she might have been pressed by his implication and hurried over instantly.
With a stiff nod, Reeds then produced a small business card and handed it to her through the window. "That's the address you'll be expected to interview them ag."
Hazel accepted the card, seeing it was for some high-end city nightclub and lounge, she sneered inwardly; It was undoubtedly the venue for whatever disgusting gala Reeds and his investors had planned.
"I'll be there shortly," she stated in a measured tone as Reeds eyed her carefully.
With an unconvinced grunt, Mr. Reeds finally put his car back into drive and peeled away from the curb, the tinted windows revealing nothing of whoever else may have been seated inside.
As the black sedan disappeared from sight, Hazel looked on with a cold smile.
"I know your master said you should take me around, but I have somewhere to be," she said to Marcus' men standing s bit away, her eyes still trained to the car driving away in the distance.
"We have been ordered to take you where ever you need to go and returned to the. Hospital, Madame," one of them answered.
"I see," she said and passed over the business card Mr. Reeds had given her, "Take me there,"
she instructed.
As she stalked towards her car, a merciless glint flashed in her eyes. This did not pass by the eyes of Marcus' men unnoticed. They wondered where this new Madame was going with such a ruthless glint in her eyes. Her smiling face did not help matter either.
When they had been suddenly asked to take the new Madame around, they were confused at first. They did not know when their boss had married. It did not help that this madam seemed to be weak. Her petite form seemed scared of the boss and of them. Was the boss keeping this. side of his life secret from the madam as mush as he was keeping Madame a secret?
Hazel did not know what Marcus' men were thinking. She watched Mr. Reeds sleek black sedan disappear around the corner, a cold smile playing across her lips. The arrogant blowhard actually thought he could bend her to his depraved will so easily. Well, he was in for a rude awakening.
As soon as the car was out of sight, Hazel turned and strode purposefully toward the menacing trio of hulking men in crisp black suits - Marcus Green's personal guards who had been watching the entire exchange unfold. They eyed her warily as she approached.
She got into the car when the opened the door for her and the car pulled away.
Lydia answered on the second ring, her warm, Jovial tone like a salve against the knot of slow burning anger in Hazel's chest. "Hey girl, what's up?" "Lydia..." Hazel paused, gathering her nerves. Her best friend of four years was truly the only person she trusted implicitly in this world. Lydia had been the one to help Hazel escape after the altercation at the family dinner over a year ago, when things violently came to an end at that fateful dinner and her father was hunting for her. She was like a sister in every way but
blood.
"Listen, if you do not hear from me in an hour, want you to call the police," Hazel said and Lydia paused.
"What a thing to say. Did something happen? Where are you?" Lydia asked.
I am going to a the Venison club to interview a client."
“What kind of client is making you worried about your safety?" Lydia asked.
"I am not worried about my safety. I am worried that after more than an hour, I would have killed them," Hazel corrected.
"Killed them" Lydia laughed. "It can't that you have decided to resort to throwing people down when they can't behave during interviews?
"Lydia, focus!" Hazel hissed, cutting her off urgently. She quickly relayed the sordid details! All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
"Fine, why? Why are going to kill people?" Lydia asked.
“I just found out one of my bosses, Mr. Reeds is planning to have me serve some of those I am. to interview today. It is either he will try to get me drunk or just drug me," Hazel said.
"What? Haze!" Lydia's cheerful tone instantly morphed into one of horrified concern. "You can't seriously be going to going over despite knowing all that?"
"I have to," Hazel stated, keeping her voice low and steady despite the tremor of adrenaline. coursing through her veins. "I have to go and break their bones. How can I just let them go? Especially that Jack Reeds. Since they want a good night, I will make sure they will not wake up for quite a while."
"But...do you have to take the risk?" Lydia's voice cracked with evident worry. "I know you are angry, but what if they fight back? What if they have guards?"
"They won't," Hazel replied, watching the city skyline slide by through the tinted SUV windows as they pulled onto the expressway. “This is the price of confidence. They have done this before without consequences, why bring guards? They will be alone. And If I am not wrong, someone will stupidly lock the door..."
She trailed off as she noticed one of the guards eyeing her with a frown in the rearview mirror. Undoubtedly they had picked up on her words and heard her conversation.
"I am having a bad day, since they are going to be locked inside with me with no escape, they might as well help me release some steam." Hazel stated firmly, locking eyes with the guard. for just a moment before he turned away. "But if don't call you back within an hour to confirm everything's okay, then you can raise the alarm."
There was a pregnant pause before Lydia sighed deeply. "Fine. If I don't here from you in an hour, I am hiring thugs."
A small smile crept across Hazel's face at her friend's trademark feistiness. "Thanks, sis. And listen...you should know, I'm pretty sure that walking brothels, Jenny is the one who planted those vicious rumors about me in the first place.
"What?" Lydia growled. "That jealous little bitch! How did she did out where you worked?"
"I saw her in the hospital last night with that flee bag, Mike," Hazel explained, her grip. tightening on the phone. "She must have discovered where I work and decided to try messing up my career, just like always, her methods have not changed."
"Well isn't that just precious," Lydia spat sarcastically. "Next time I see those walking pieces of human debris, I swear I'm shoving my stiletto so far up both their-"
“Easy, there,” Hazel chuckled darkly. "Though I may just take you up on that favor soon enough, especially if this all traces back to Jenny's wretched behind.” She paused as the SUV took an exit ramp, the bright lights of the city's nightlife district coming into view ahead. " I've got to go. But I'll be in touch, one way or another, in the next hour. Love you, Lyds."
"Love you too, girl. And kick some fucking ass in there!"
The call disconnected just as the SUV drove into a bright lively street, nightclubs and pubs could be seen everywhere, the car's polished black exterior practically glowing under the neon lights.
Hazel's chest was still heaving from the adrenaline rush as she spots a tool shop and tells the driver to stop by.
A wicked smile slowly spread across her lips as she reconsidered. Why stop with sy
exposing Reeds and those vile investors? No, she wanted, needed to something more
dangerous for where she was going. Her bag was a strong leather, but is was not enough. She told the driver to stop by the tool shop and got out.
