Chapter 23 Beating Up the Jerk
Allison glanced at her phone and sighed. Seriously, who could read someone's mind like this?
Was Alexander some kind of psychic? How did he always know what she was thinking?
She shook her head, deciding not to overthink it. After a shower, she slathered on her homemade ointment and crashed into bed. The next morning, as she neared the school, she spotted a guy with a bouquet standing at the entrance, looking pretty ridiculous.
High school classes started early, so seeing a dude with flowers at 6:30 AM made him look like a total nutcase.
To her shock, it was Everett. He rushed over, leaving Allison totally confused.
"Allison, these are for you. Take them!" he said.
"Mr. Stevens, what's this all about?" Allison asked, her tone icy.
"Obviously, it means I like you and want you to be my girlfriend!" Everett was blunt, but Allison's face turned frosty.
"Mr. Stevens, I'm not interested and never will be. Leave now!" she snapped.
"Allison, I know you're mad about what happened with Sophia. What she did had nothing to do with me. I've already dumped her. I promise I won't talk to her again if you say so. Is that okay?" Everett pleaded. Allison laughed, but it was more out of anger.
"Mr. Stevens, I said I'm not interested. Don't you get it?" Her attitude made Everett furious. He had swallowed his pride, yet Allison still wouldn't budge.
"Allison, I'm genuinely into you!" Everett exclaimed.
"Everett, being a jerk is one thing, but being this pathetic is just gross!" Allison shot back.
She turned to walk away, but Everett grabbed her shoulder. "Allison, don't be so stuck-up!"
Before he could finish, Allison flipped him over her shoulder, slamming him to the ground. She squatted down, looking at the grimacing Everett, and said coldly, "Mr. Stevens, stay away from me, or next time, you might end up with broken bones!"
Adjusting her school uniform, Allison strutted into the campus, ignoring the stares from others.
Just as she sat down in the classroom, Mia burst in, full of energy. "Allison, I heard you beat up Everett. Is it true?" Mia's excitement made Allison a bit exasperated.
"He brought me flowers at the crack of dawn and asked me to be his girlfriend, so I taught him a lesson," Allison explained.
Mia slapped the table. "Serves him right! Jerks like him deserve a good beating!"
Then Mia plopped down across from Allison, looking thrilled. "Allison, can you teach me how to fight?"
Mia's cute pleading was hard to resist, so Allison finally agreed.
"After dinner, during the half-hour break, let's hit the playground!" Allison said, and Mia was so happy she nearly jumped up. Little did they know, rumors about Allison at school were taking on a new twist.
"If Allison hadn't led Everett on, would he have brought her flowers? Playing hard to get, that Allison is truly shameless!" Yasmin's friends were at it again, badmouthing Allison.
To some girls, Everett was the dream guy.
After all, he had the looks and came from money.
"You don't get it. Some girls just love shortcuts. Allison's been pretty since forever and always had guys chasing her. No wonder Mr. Stevens likes her. Poor Sophia, though."
Mentioning Sophia, these girls, who used to look down on her, now felt sorry for her after hearing Yasmin's take.novelbin
"I heard Sophia's parents bailed her out, spending a ton of money. The Brown Family's business is in trouble and they might be moving abroad!"
This news caught Yasmin off guard. It wasn't unusual for the Brown Family to have issues, but for things to go south this fast was odd.
"Yasmin, I also heard that Allison refuses to make peace. Sophia might end up in jail. How can Allison be so heartless!"
"Yeah, Yasmin, watch out. She's scary. Not only does she fight, but she might also be mixed up with shady people. Don't let her drag you down!"
Yasmin smirked. The worse Allison looked to others, the happier she felt.
But in front of everyone, she had to act like she totally trusted Allison. "Allison may be reckless, but she knows right from wrong. She wouldn't hang out with shady people. She learned her lesson five years ago." Bringing up the incident from five years ago made these girls even more disdainful.

"Yasmin, just wait, she'll mess up sooner or later. Don't let her ruin your reputation, or how will you get married in the future?"
Yasmin's tactics were on point, subtly trashing Allison's rep while keeping her own image squeaky clean.
But because of the morning drama, Allison got called to the office and chewed out by the teachers. "Allison, fighting is wrong! Go back and write a self-reflection, 1,000 words, not a single word less!" Allison didn't argue and went back to write the reflection, but she had no clue where to start.
Just then, Mia came over and slapped a piece of paper in front of Allison.
"Here, a self-reflection, 2,000 words!" Allison looked at Mia, stunned.
"You wrote this?"
Mia nodded. "Of course! My grades might be average, but I'm the queen of self-reflections!"
Mia was something else. Allison was speechless.
The first class in the morning was math, and Samuel brought test papers. Today was test day.
Allison glanced at the questions; they weren't hard. She looked up to see Samuel standing right next to her, which puzzled her. "Sir, what are you doing?"
Samuel said, "I'm here to make sure you don't fall asleep. If you fail this test, Allison, you're out of my class!"
Allison couldn't figure out why he always singled her out.
"If I get a perfect score, can I sleep in math class from now on?" Allison asked suddenly, and the whole classroom went silent. Everyone stared at Allison in shock; she was too bold.
