Return Of The Real Heiress: Secrets And Masks

Chapter 522

Jean clenched her jaw, glancing at Lydia who was approaching with a probing look in her eyes. Gathering her courage, she stared back. "Who says it's fake? It's real.

"It's just a relationship, nothing to announce to the world. We're keeping it low-key, What? Ms. Walton, is there really a need for all this pressure?

"Could it be that you've got your eye on Mr. Simpson? Sorry, but he's already taken by me. If you're planning on swooping in now, well, I guess that makes you the mistress. "With so many people around, I'd advise you to be careful with your image. You wouldn't want to embarrass your family, would you?"

Lydia didn't expect Jean to suddenly be so sharp-tongued, her finger pointing directly at her. "You..."

Mary and Giselle both chimed in, their voices full of curiosity. "Is this for real?"

They seemed a little too excited.

Jean, somewhat distracted, simply replied, "Yeah."

Mary, clearly skeptical, turned to Cherise. "Cherise, you're close to Jean. Tell me. Is this true?"

Morris, standing off to the side, chuckled quietly twice.

Cherise lowered her head with a smile, then lifted her gaze to meet Mary and Giselle. In this situation, she could only nod in acknowledgment.

Both Xenia and Jean, who had been tense, visibly relaxed.

Giselle, hearing the confirmation, smiled brightly. "Hey, Truman is actually dating the only daughter of the Jarrett family? Wow, this is way beyond what we ever expected. Guess we are so lucky!"

Mary and Giselle were practically beaming, their smiles narrow and satisfied. "Well, well, I know Mr. Simpson. He's the boss of Artiverse Entertainment, the one behind all those TV dramas

"This works out perfectly. From now on, when I want to follow a star,

can seek his help. That'll be super convenient!"novelbin

Xenia and Jean exchanged a glance after looking at Cherise, and couldn't help but twitch their lips. They hadn't expected that a simple lie to brush off the situation would lead to Mary and Giselle celebrating the news. Meanwhile, in Artiverse Entertainment's office, Truman was sneezing intermittently. The trash bin by his desk was already filled with balled-up tissues.

He muttered under his breath, "What's going on here? Maybe I should schedule an appointment to check if I've got rhinitis. I've already gone through a whole pack of tissues in less than an hour."

Back at the party, while Mary and Giselle were excited, the three women from the Walton family remained calm.

Cora and Stella both knew how deeply Lydia liked Truman, to the point where it could almost be described as an obsession.

As they saw Lydia's hopes being dashed, they both felt a genuine sense of disappointment for her.

But it was brief.

A few seconds later, Stella returned to her usual warm smile. "There's nothing wrong with it. Love finds its way. I'm happy

for Ms. Simpson and Jean. I didn't notice that Morris had arrived earlier.

"Why don't you all go sit down and have some snacks while I tak Lydia to greet the others? Don't worry. Make yourselves at home."

Stella gave Lydia a gentle tug, nodded toward Cora, and led her into her room.

As the two of them left, Cora nodded at them, said something polite, and walked away as well.

As soon as the three women left, the remaining group of familiar faces, including Cherise, Morris, Xenia, and Mary, were left in the corner.

Mary and Giselle were clearly still in high spirits, bubbling with excitement.

Jean, on the other hand, found the nearest chair and sat down, asking a passing servant for a glass of cold water, which she gulped down quickly, breathing a sigh of relief afterward. Morris and Cherise stood nearby. After a brief look at each other, Morris spoke up. "Ms. Walton isn't someone to mess with. There's no clarity in her gaze." Cherise nodded in agreement.

The two exchanged another glance, then Morris took out his phone and opened his chat with Truman.

Meanwhile, in Lydia's room, Stella had a worried look on her face as she spoke up. "Lydia, how could you ask such a question in front of everyone?

"Do you realize who you were questioning? That's the daughter of the Jarrett family, and her grandma was standing right there.

"Plus, there were so many eyes on you. Morris and Cherise were there too. Do you have any idea who they are, or what they're capable of?

"If you upset the people close to them, they'd make sure that person would regret it. You've never been like this, so why

now..."

Before Stella could finish, Lydia interrupted, looking somewhat innocent. "Aunt Stella, did I embarrass you?"

Stella was momentarily stunned. The words she was about to say vanished, and she shook her head. "No, I was just reminding you. Lydia, you're a good girl.

"I know you didn't mean it. But all the feelings invested over the years seem like being wasted..."

Lydia stared at Stella, her expression blank. "But we are the Walton family. My grandfather was a founding father, my dad is Tristan, and my grandmother and aunt are both remarkable women. How could I not be happy?" Stella nodded, gently touching Lydia's face. "Lydia, I'm glad you can see it that way, You'll find someone you like eventually. There's no need to rush."

Lydia's face brightened as she smiled widely. "Okay, I understand, Aunt Stella. I know I'm the luckiest."

After a pause, she added, "Now, I just want some time to myself. You organized the party, so go ahead and handle things. I'll be good."
