Return Of The Real Heiress: Secrets And Masks

My Billionaire Family 485

Once Morris's car was completely out of sight at Betrico University, Hank began to slowly emerge from the Traditional Medicine Department building.

Watching the path the car took, he squinted and smiled with some satisfaction.

After muttering to himself, "Ms. Leach's guy is really handsome, he turned and walked in another direction.

He walked to the bike-sharing station, tossed his backpack into the front basket, scanned the QR code, and leisurely pedaled away from Betrico University.

Morris and Cherise were on their way home together.

While waiting at the traffic light, Morris glanced at Cherise in the passenger seat. "You haven't been back to classes at Betrico University for a few days. Are you getting used to it?" Cherise also turned her head to look at him. "Pretty good. Everything's good, and not much different really. But we had a new student today."

Morris raised an eyebrow, recalling the gaze he felt earlier. "A new student? You just had Jean transfer in. Why another one? The new student must have quite the background, right?"

Cherise shook her head. "Not like Jean. This is a young boy, just 14, an orphan with an impressive record. He was recommended for special admission by the Academy of Sciences and the Traditional Medicine Association." "An orphan? Fourteen?" These details puzzled Morris for a moment.

As the light turned green, he pressed the gas pedal, gently tapping his fingers on the steering wheel.

Cherise nodded. "That's right. I was surprised when I first saw those details too. But after seeing him today, well..."

After saying this, Cherise shrugged. "Just a kid. We'll need to keep watching to find out more. The world is full of strange people; we can't let our guard down."

Morris nodded, agreeing with Cherise's opinion.

At the next traffic light, where they usually turned left, Morris suddenly turned right. This prompted Cherise to ask, "Mr. Chivers, did you take the wrong road?" Morris chuckled. "I took the wrong road on purpose."

Cherise raised an eyebrow and chuckled. "You wouldn't have guessed I'm craving beef stew, would you?"

Morris glanced at her and replied, "Of course, I've already arranged it with Marte. When we get there, it'll be ready." Cherise gave him a knowing smile, realizing that these peaceful days reflected their close connection. That evening, after freshening up at the house, the couple had some private time; one was in the bedroom, the other in the study.

Cherise, in the bedroom, was busy searching through information about Hank. After all, for a 14-year-old boy, and an orphan, to have achieved so much was remarkable and deserved more attention. 12:57 Fri, Jan 3 G

However, the surface-level-search matched almost perfectly with the resume Trent had provided.

With a tap, she entered the software interface she had developed which now showed more personal information.

[Hank Reese, a child prodigy, was abandoned by his biological mother at the back door of Betrico Humanity Hospital 14 years ago.

[A nurse at the hospital found him and called the police. During the investigation, it was discovered that his mother drowned herself an hour after abandoning Hank.

[His biological father, Harry Reese, was a soldier in battled in Astamia and died in combat two months before Hank was born.

[Hank was exceptionally intelligent from an early age. Due to limited funds at the orphanage, he missed kindergarten and started directly in second grade.

[At twelve years old, his remarkable hacking skills captured the attention of a mentor at the Academy of Sciences. That same year, he stood out in a traditional medicine knowledge contest, gaining the attention of the Traditional Medicine Association.] What followed was Hank's lengthy list of awards, nearly identical to what Trent had shown her.

After reading through the documents, he pursed his lips. There was indeed a look of sympathy on her face regarding Hank's background.

At the same time, after Morris concluded his video meeting with Leo and the others in his study, he immediately began looking into the new student's details from the Traditional Medicine Department at Betrico University.

It was basically the same as what Cherise had discovered. His life had some disappointments, but was filled with so much brilliance that it nearly compensated for those regrets.

For someone so young, it was extraordinary, which made people want to be a little more careful around him.

Not far from Betrico University was the Suburb Charity Orphanage. If it wasn't mentioned that this was within Betrico's jurisdiction, probably no one would believe it.

Compared to the bustling city, this area was especially barren and isolated, with a small, lone courtyard house standing by itself.

The outer walls of the orphanage showed clear signs of peeling, looking dangerously unstable.

If a heavy rainstorm or a severe sandstorm or any irreversible weather disaster were to happen, this small courtyard house probably wouldn't hold up.

As Hank mentioned, the orphanage he was in needed funds for repairs.

No matter how rundown it looked outside, the inside was equally cozy, not because of upscale decorations, but due to its simple and plain furnishings.

However, it was kept so clean and tidy that it gave off a very warm feeling, a strong sense of home.

It was clear that the director of this orphanage was a compassionate person who loved children and life. Hank was riding a shared bike back from Betrico University, and it was already dark by the time he got home.

Before heading back to the orphanage, he stopped by the market to pick up several sandwiches and milk.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

As soon as he walked in, he shouted, "Maeve, kids, I'm back! Look what I brought you."
