Chapter 850
Nathalie paused for a moment, then added, "Oh, by the way, my dad lives with us too. But don't worry, he's super chill and easy to get along with. His only quirk is that he spoils me a bit too much. Sometimes he'll bend the rules just to make me happy, but you'll get used to it."
Behind his sunglasses, Morris's eyes twinkled with a gentle smile. All his efforts had paid off, as he was now stepping into the role of Nathalie's protector.
When Nathalie wheeled Morris into the living room, they found Lincoln perched on the couch, looking like he'd been up all night, worried sick because Nathalie hadn't come home.
"Dad, you didn't sleep?" Nathalie asked, surprised.
Lincoln gave her a reproachful look. "Vivian, you didn't come home last night? That's never happened before. I was worried sick... and your phone was dead."
Feeling guilty, Nathalie replied, "Dad, my phone ran out of battery. Don't worry, I just went to pick up my..."
She glanced at Morris, unsure how to define their relationship because, in reality, Nathan had taken over Morris's place in her life. This made it tough for Nathalie to say Morris was the man she loved.
Plus, she was mindful of Morris's engagement to Ashley, so she awkwardly concluded, "He's my friend."
Lincoln was taken aback, wondering why his daughter would bring home a male friend she'd never mentioned before. She wasn't the type to have casual friendships, especially with guys, and she'd never brought one home before.
Lincoln had a hunch that this guy was more than just a friend. He scrutinized Morris, and the more he looked, the more uneasy he felt.
The guy was ridiculously handsome, the kind of looks that could start trouble. Was his daughter smitten with his good looks, thinking of him as a potential partner?noveldrama
Lincoln was all for his daughter finding a boyfriend, but as a parent, he had long-term concerns. Even i she chose an ordinary guy, as long as he was healthy and capable of protecting her, Lincoln would be on board.
But this guy?
Despite his good looks, he seemed incapable of taking care of himself. Would it mean his daughter, Vivian would have to look after him in the future? As a doting dad, Lincoln's first thought was to break up any potential romance.
However, not wanting to be the bad guy in front of his daughter, he kept up a friendly front, pretending to warmly welcome Morris. "Since he's your friend and it's rare he visits, we should make him feel at home. I'll have Ford prepare a room for him..." Cóntent
Nathalie frowned, knowing that while everyone else was great at chores, Ford was hopeless at them.
"Dad, I'll handle the room myself. It's getting late, I'll take him to rest," Nathalie said decisively.
With that, she wheeled Morris away.
Morris looked back slowly, catching Lincoln's hawk-like glare, as if he were a tiger ready to pounce. Morris found it amusing.
...
Nathalie quickly tidied up the room next to hers and settled Morris in.
"Nathan, check out the room and see if you need anything. I can run out and grab it for you."
Morris glanced around. The room was tastefully decorated with coordinated paintings, curtains, and ornaments-bright and lively, a stark contrast to his usual dark and brooding nature.
What do you think?
