SLAP2
“Take care..” Keisha whispered to Layla as she disappeared from there.
Layla opened the door and she walked into Nolan’s office, she didn’t know how to face him, hit she had to him.
She saw him there, looking heavenly as ever, he held a cigarette between his fingers.
“Nolan..” she called in a cracked voice as fresh tears flowed down her cheeks.
Nolan’s head snapped up, and he dropped the cigarette in surprise.
“Layla?” he called, his voice filled with shock. He stood up, walking towards her.
“What are you doing here? You shouldn’t be up and about.”
“I had to see you,” Layla said, her voice breaking.
“I have to tell you the truth. I didn’t cheat on you and never will. I don’t know how I got there..” she sobbed explaining herself.
“Why are you here? I thought I asked you to stay indoors..” he asked, wiping the tears off the corner of her eyes.
“How can you be so cruel..” a sob slipped her lips.
“You left me in the room and didn’t even speak to me nor gave me a chance to explain myself..” she stuttered.
“I’m sorry that my actions have hurt you. I kept you in there because that was the best thing to do..”
“You don’t understand,” Layla said, her voice shaking.
“They’re saying I did something I didn’t do. I’ve been accused of something terrible, I need you now more than before.. ” she pouted.
“I’m really sorry if my actions angered you, now stop crying or you’ll ruin your pretty face..” he fawned as Layla cheeks flushed. He still knew how to flirt in serious matters.
“You’re not angry at me?”
“Why should i?”
“I mean after what you saw..”
“I know there’s no way you could have done that. I trust you more than myself, Layla. You’re too pure to even think of doing something like that.. ” he confessed, caressing her cheeks lovingly.
He really wanted to see her in the past few days but had been trying to find the person that just had sent Jake, but whoever it was, cleaned their tracks well, he was convinced that the person knew how the palace worked well enough.
Layla’s eyes filled with tears at Nolan’s words. She felt a rush of relief and gratitude, knowing that he trusted her.
“I’m so glad you believe me,” she said, her voice thick with emotion.
“I was so scared… ” she pouted as he hugged him, inhaling his sweet smell. Three days without him felt like tears.
” I’m sorry.. ” he whispered, planting a kiss on her forehead. He should have taken things more easily.
“There’s no need to apologize,” Layla said, resting her head on his shoulder.
“I know you were just trying to protect me. I’m just glad we’re talking now. I missed you so much.”
“I missed you too,” Nolan said, holding her close. “I never want to be apart from you again. I want to always be by your side, protecting you.”
Layla felt a swell of love in her heart. She knew she was safe with Nolan, and that he would always be there for her.
“What happened that day Layla?” Nolan asked as he helped her sit on a sofa.
“Tell me everything that happened..” he requested, she went missing, so he wanted to know what happened.
Layla took a deep breath, then began to tell Nolan what had happened.
She told him about how she began to feel dizzy and how Carla helped her and the next thing, she was in bed with Jake.
“Carla?” Nolan asked with a questioning tone.
“Yes Carla. It all started after I drank the juice and..”
“What juice?” Nolan asked suspicion written all over his face.
“The maid gave it to me, I requested for one though.. ” she replied.
” I see.. ” Nolan mumbled, shaking his head slowly.
From the way she explained things, he just couldn’t shake off that thought that Carla might have had a hand in it.
“I’ll..” he was still speaking to Layla when the door sprang open.
It was like the popular saying, speak of the devil and the devil appears, because Carla walked in right at that moment.
Layla’s eyes narrowed the moment she saw Carla.
What the fuck was she wearing? She was better off naked.
Carla’s eyes widened when she saw Layla, and her mouth dropped open in surprise. She looked at Nolan, then back at Layla.
“What is she doing here?” Carla demanded, her voice high with outrage. “Get her out of here. I won’t have her around me.”
Nolan’s brow furrowed, and he fixed Carla with a stern look.
“You will not speak to Layla that way,” he warney, his voice low and dangerous. “She is my wife and your Luna and I won’t allow you to disrespect her.”
“Why shouldn’t I, Nolan. Have you forgotten what she did? She cheated on you with a guard. You should throw her in the dungeon. ” Carla stated. She came here dressed for Nolan only to see Layla in his office, she had thought Layla was placed in a lockdown.
Nolan’s brows creased. Carla was speaking like the culprit.
Everyone sympathized with Layla, but it seemed she was the only one who wanted her out of the way.Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
“That’s enough Carla! I’ve had enough already ‘” Layla said walking up to Carla.
” Who do you think you are to walk into Nolan’s office dressed like this? You seemed to have forgotten that he’s taken and that he would never look at you even if you went around naked. ” Layla mocked.
” At least I didn’t cheat on him with a guard..” the next thing Carla felt was a slap.
Layla had launched herself at Carla, her hand swinging out in a blind rage. The sound of the slap reverberated through the room, and Carla’s face snapped to the side. She let out a sharp cry of pain, her eyes watering.
“How dare you!!” Carla fumed. She had enough of Layla slapping her already. She raised her hands to hit her back but was stopped by Nolan who held her wrist so tight, like he wanted to snap it into two.
“Who do you think you are to raise your hands on my woman?”
