Chapter 49 by Lorelei Thunder
Kurt never thought that the Cartwrights would be so easily fooled. He thought that anyone who dared to trick the Cartwrights would end up with a fate worse than death! But… the events unfolding in front of him right now didn’t make sense at all!
Of course, Kurt wasn’t convinced. He hastily reached up and pointed at himself. “It’s me, Clement, me! I’m Timothy Donnel’s son, Kurt Donnel. We just met a few days ago at the entertainment complex.”
Kurt thought that his dad must have been very respected if a call from him was enough to get Pamela seated next to the host. As Timothy’s only son, of course, he deserved to sit on Helen’s other side. That was only natural.
Clement shouted in annoyance, “Yes, I’m talking about you! Get lost right now!”All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
Clement’s voice was so loud that Kurt’s ears were ringing. Just then, Jessie came over and said to Pamela, “I’m so sorry, I made a mistake earlier. Your seat isn’t here. Please come with me and I’ll show you to your seat.”
Pamela was stunned. “Where is it then?
Jessie wordlessly pointed at the common seats in the distance. “Over there. Take your pick.”
Pamela hastily looked at Kurt for help, but Kurt was left speechless. Because of Clement’s notoriety, Kurt didn’t dare to go up against him.
“Pamela… Um, there must have been a misunderstanding. Let’s go over there for now. I’ll call my dad and sort things out.” Kurt forced a smile as he spoke.
Pamela got up reluctantly. She was driven away before she could even meet Helen. What was the meaning of this?
Upstairs, Helen sighed in relief. Fortunately, the incident hadn’t progressed to the point of no return. It was still salvageable.
Still, Helen didn’t dare to let down her guard. Lifting her phone, she instructed, “Tell the Customer Department to disqualify York Corporation as a potential gold partner. “With that, she strode out of the room.
“Look, Ms. Cartwright is here!” As soon as someone noticed her presence, everyone looked over. A beautiful figure appeared on the platform on the second floor.
Helen was wearing an haute couture evening gown which flattered her hourglass figure. Her face was charming, and she had an otherworldly air about her. In an instant, she became the center of attention.
Helen had long gotten used to the feeling of having everyone’s eyes on her. She had a calm and confident expression as she strode forward. She descended the stairs in her crystal- encrusted high heels.
Kurt’s eyes widened in infatuation right away. Helen was nodding at the guests as she walked in his direction. When Kurt noticed that, he hastily dashed up to her.
“Hello, Ms. Cartwright. I am Kurt Donnel, the son of Timothy Donnel from Donnel Corporation. I’ve heard many things about you, and I’m honored to have met you today!”
Kurt bowed in respect, a smile plastered on his face. He looked like a bootlicker, and he even extended his hand shamelessly to shake hands with Helen.
Even Pamela frowned subconsciously when she saw that. A hint of disdain flashed in her eyes.
Pamela was secretly comparing herself to Helen as well. Helen was the host, after all, so Pamela had to admit that she was slightly lacking in many ways compared to Helen.
Kurt kept blabbering on even though Helen was ignoring him. “You’re here right on time. There’s a scammer here…
Helen didn’t even spare Kurt a glance as she walked right past him. She treated Kurt like air. Kurt, whose hand was still extended, felt extremely awkward.
“I’m sorry for being late, Mr. Henderson. Forgive me for the inconsiderate arrangements. I hope they haven’t troubled you too much,” Helen said when she approached Woody.
Her demeanor was extremely respectful, but her heart was pounding in her chest. Everyone was stunned when they saw that!
