Tremaine said sternly, "A cold is nothing. You should have only missed a day of school at most. How many days has it been now? You have to go back to school tomorrow."

Montez was going to be his successor one day, which was why Tremaine was especially hard on him.

"I won't." Montez replied stubbornly, "I don't want to."

This greatly upset Tremaine.

Just as he was about to scold him, Montez blurted out, "Everyone else is going to have their mom's with them at school but me. I don't want to go to school."

Tremaine paused.

He felt a complex mix of emotions welling inside him.

He felt distressed, guilty and sad.

He very quickly suppressed those feelings.

Tremaine then said, "Montez, you are my son. It goes without saying that you must have strong character and an iron will. There is no reason for you to skip school tomorrow. You will go to school

tomorrow because I said so!"

Montez shouted, "You always order me around like this! I'm a human being, not a robot! You brought me into this world but never gave me a mother! Why even send me to school?!"

Montez threw the phone to the ground.

"Slap!"

The phone didn't hit the floor, instead it landed on a person's face.

Sheldon's face.

When he saw that he had thrown the phone at Sheldon, Montez quickly hid under his quilt.

Sheldon placed the phone on his ear and said, "Mr. Tremaine?"

Tremaine replied angrily, "What are you doing there?! Where's Montez?!"

Sheldon looked at Montez who was trembling under his quilt. He hesitated for a moment before saying, "I heard that Montez was ill, so I came to check on him. He's resting right now, he does appear to be quite sick."

"Give him the phone!"

Sheldon hesitated again.

He didn't think this was a good time to hand the phone over to Montez. As he was thinking of what to say to Tremaine, he suddenly heard Tremaine say, "Never mind, forget it."

Sheldon sighed out of relief.

Tremaine then said, "Make sure he gets some rest today, but make sure he goes to school tomorrow. If he refuses to get the soldiers to tie him up and drag him over there! Tell him that Tremaine Quartley, will not have a coward for a son!"

"Beep, beep, beep."

Tremaine then ended the call.

Sheldon stood there quietly.

Mr. Tremaine, just as angry as ever I see.

Sheldon sighed then looked at Montez.

He managed to catch the last thing Montez said as he walked in.

He had no idea what had caused Montez to be so bold today. He dared to talk back to his father and even threw his phone!

Sheldon walked over to him.

He lifted the quilt and gently called out, "Mr. Montez."

Montez refused to look at Sheldon and buried his face under a pillow.

Sheldon then said rather helplessly, "Mr. Montez, I don't know why you're arguing with Mr. Tremaine but he is doing this for your own good. You are his only son and he loves you very much."

Montez didn't respond.

Sheldon tried talking to him again but Montez still refused to respond.

Did he really have to get the soldiers to tie him up tomorrow?

Sheldon didn't want to do that.

But Mr. Tremaine was quite clear about it...
