Chapter 44: Bitten
Chapter 44: Bitten
"Relax, it's only me, sister." A voice says as a man dressed in all black steps out of the shadows and
stops a few metres away from Annabelle and I. The man is tall and lean and when a beam of light from
the house bounces on his face, I can see his unusually pale skin.
"Rafael, what are you doing here?" Annabelle's face turns up and she scrunches up her nose, and for
the first time since I've met her, Annabelle's once nice girl demeanor turns cold and her face scrunches
up in disgust and hate. She must not like this man at all: they are both glaring at each other and they
both look like they want to snap each other's neck.
"I see you've gotten yourself a new play thing." Rafael turns his head towards me with a smirk on his
face and I narrow my eyes at him. He hisses at me and I see his fangs?
He's a vampire.
"Hey, Belle. Long time no see." A new voice enters this confusing conversation. A thin blonde slips out
of the shadows and stands beside Rafael. She looks eerily identical to Annabelle. Am I getting caught
up in some sibling rivalry war?
"If I said I was happy to see you Katrina, then I would be, without a doubt lying." Katrina fumes at
Annabelle's words but Annabelle looks livid enough to kill her.
She looks over at me, and she looks worried. For me, my safety. "You need to get out of here."
Annabelle whispers a few inches from my ear, so her sister and brother can't hear, although I'm sure if
they want to, they can our conversation. They are vampires after all.
"Not going to happen at all." I guess they did hear after all. Katrina, the blonde, barges after me and
grabs at my blouse, and successfully pins me down to the ground. I can almost feel her take away a NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.
pound of my flesh in her fingernails as she pulls her hand away from my neck. Meanwhile, Annabelle is
caught up in her own war with her brother as I hear them both in a heated hissing battle. I hear shoves
and branches snapping but all I can focus on is the blonde vicious creature in front of me who seems to
want to eat me.
If they are siblings, why are they attacking each other? Better yet, why did they decide to invite me in
their war? I could definitely pass on this one.
"You know, it's a unpopular opinion that blondes taste better than brunettes. Don't you think we should
find out once and for all who tastes better?" The woman bares her teeth at me and I squint as a few of
her saliva soldiers attack my face.
I only have one word to describe this experience: Unhygienic
"I don't think I want to be a test subject." I tell her as I try to heist her off of me but she doesn't budge.
Katrina smiles evily and I squirm under her weight. "I promise I'll make this swift and painful." She tries
bitting after my neck, but I shift until she finally pins both my hands over my head using only one of her
hands. She finally succeeds in plunging her fangs in my neck and I stop struggling.
Katrina sucked in long gulps of my blood, and I saw her hungrily drinking as much blood as she
wanted. I saw a long trail of my red, warm blood trickle from her the corner of her mouth to her chin.
She used her red tongue to lick it and licked her lips from and resumed her feast. I released a high
pitched scream as she used their bottom fang to drink more blood. Squirming did not affect my current
situation and neither did kicking. It was as if she was dead set on sucking every single drop of blood
from my body, and I was powerless and could not stop her. I inhaled a deep breath, my head limply
drooping to the side. Suddenly I heard a voice, and I opened my eyes as my knight in shining armor,
literally, punched the vampire off of me.
"Emerald, are you okay?" Spencer was over my limp body and her eyes held worry, guilt and fear. "All
the women and children who couldn't fight were brought to a safe place at the pack house but I couldn't
find you. Liam is freaking out. He wanted to come here and shift into his wolf, but I persuaded him not
to do it: it would be too dangerous." My best friend rambled as I tried to keep my droopy eyes open.
"You have two heads. " I laughed as Spencer's two headed figure looked over at where she had
pushed Katrina. The vampire was gone, in the darkness. "You have four eyes and you look soo weird."
I laughed again. I felt tipsy, as if I was on some drug that was like an anchor for me.
"We need to get you to safety and get you checked out, Emerald." I heard Annabelle's voice. She had a
faint scar on her left cheek but when she saw me staring at it, she used her hair to cover it.
"Did you fight off the bad man? He was s-super scary, I hope he goes to jail for assaulting women." I
tell Annabelle and Spencer laughs.
Before Annabelle could answer I felt this strange feeling taking over my entire body before I was
plunged into eternal darkness.
