POV

My father wasn't happy with the way I was acting to my mate. He dragged me to my office when I started to draw attention to myself.

My father, his beta, and gemma were there too. Alvin and Ethan came with us likewise my new found mate. Her face was unhappy but I don't seem to really care. I was even avoiding her face so as not to be pulled more by the mating bond. "What has come over you Jaylen?" My father asked.

Being that he had handed over his title to me, he couldn't address me with authority but he being my father he still has power to correct me. I was glaring at them all.

"I know what you went through looking for your mate and now she's here you still didn't want to accept her" he said in anger.

"I never said I wasn't going to accept her," I snapped.

What I said released the tension in the room. But that doesn't mean they weren't looking at me mysteriously. They couldn't understand me.

"Then what's what happened out there all about?" he asked.

"I hate too forward females," I growled.

I was so angry. I didn't know if it's because she's my mate or because she called me mate. I'm just so pissed off. I know it wasn't fair taking out my anger on the poor girl but I can't help it. "Jaylen," my father scolded.

I was looking at my mate and I couldn't help but to compare her with my Sam. The mating bond was indeed enticing. I felt like rushing at her and marking her but I was still thinking about Sam. "You have to apologise to her. You can't treat your woman like that" my father said.

I raised my nose in disgust. I felt like sending them all out so I could sort out my feelings. They can't just come here all of a sudden and expect me to accept this so-called mate.

"Is it because of that lady?" Alvin's father asked.

"Dad," Alvin called.

I glared at him. I almost threatened to show my fang. Just as he mentioned her name, I knew I had to see her. Many paragraphs need to be included. Read the complete book on Job nib.com. Everyone in the pack would have heard about the news of my mate and she also would have. Pain sliced through my heart as I imagined what she could be going through.

"The maid?" My father asked.

The way he called her got me angry. I stood up and started walking away. They couldn't call me since I'm their alpha. I looked back at Allison.

"I need some fresh breeze. I'll be right back" I said then left.

I went in search of Sam. I know there's no way I'll want to hold on to her so that I wouldn't hurt her. The mating bond is stronger than anything that could be imagined. I need to make sure Sam is fine. I start to look for her with her scent. I went to her room. Even those that saw me at the maids quarters were so surprised. I never visited there.

"Alpha" one bowed when she saw me.

"Where is Samantha's room?" I asked, ignoring her greeting.

"That way alpha," she pointed in the direction.

I didn't even wait another second before I walked away. I know she was looking at me but I never cared. As I was going I was scolding myself but that doesn't mean I should turn back. What I'm doing will really hurt my mate but I need to do this. I'm not going to hurt a woman and not be considerate.

When I got to Sam's room, she wasn't there. I only met those living with her. I recognise them as those who followed Sam to the party.

"Alpha" they bowed.

"Where's my girl?" I asked.

"She ran off when she heard about your mate," one of them replied.

"And you can't follow her?" I said in anger.

"We wanted to but someone stopped us saying she needs it," another answered.

This reply got me angry. "Who the hell will dare say that?" I asked inwards.

I left knowing where I'll be able to find her. I ran without even looking if anyone was on my way. They all watched me confused as I ran.

Even the guard wouldn't follow me. I then got to where I knew she could be. I was so angry when I saw a male beside her. What got me more pissed was that he was pulling her to himself.

"Get your filthy hands off her!" I growled.

It was when the person turned that I knew it was Drey. I knew that guy had eyes on Sam, since he saw her at the party. This got me more vexed.

Sam was looking at me. It broke my heart that I made this woman cry. She has been the source of my happiness and peace for weeks now. I hate to see her like this. She wasn't looking good at her. Her eyes were as red as her hair. "What if I don't?" Drey asked.

I didn't even think twice before I sped up and pushed him off Sam. I was more careful not to hurt her. I just took Drey's hand and dragged him to the floor. Drey fell to the ground while I towered over him. I wasn't one bit afraid of the lycan witch. He is a hybrid and I'm a hybrid too. I might not have magic like he does but I'm much stronger than he is. Drey swiftly stood up and stood nose to nose with me. Now we were showing off our fangs to each other and growling. "She's not yours," Drey said sternly.

It was as if he was putting a sword in my heart. I knew all these were my fault. I shouldn't have led Sam on but I couldn't help it. I love her with all of my heart.

"She is mine," I replied in the same manner.
