Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 879

He really thought he had it all figured out.

Everett believed that just by turning back and promising Selena marriage, she'd come running back to him with open arms. But he had no idea how many chances she'd given him, only for him to waste them, leaving her with disappointment time and time again. Now, she'd reached her limit, and she wasn't about to start over so easily.

In the past, Everett had taken for granted Selena's endless patience and love. No matter what he did, she always forgave him, letting him get away with things. Maybe it was this ease that made him careless with her feelings.

Leaning against the wall, Everett tilted his head back slightly, muttering to himself, "You really are a mess, aren't you?"

...

Selena spent a good while playing with the kids and getting them to sleep. By the time she stepped out, it was already 1 AM. She looked up to see Everett standing there, rooted to the spot, his eyes locked onto hers.

She wasn't shocked. It'd be a surprise if he actually left without making a scene. But she didn't say a word, just looked away as if he wasn't even there, and headed straight for the master bedroom.

As soon as she walked in, Everett followed. She tried to shut the door, but he pushed it open and stepped inside. Frustration flashed in Selena's eyes, and she couldn't hold back any longer. "Everett, is this your idea of winning someone over? Or are you just trying to pull the same old tricks to drag me back?"

Everett felt a sharp pang in his chest. He took a step towards her instinctively, but she quickly backed away. "Stay back! Don't touch me!"

No matter how hard she tried to stay calm, she couldn't ignore the ugly photos that had come to light. How many times would she have to deal with this kind of drama in her life? Today's run-in with Breanne felt like ripping open old wounds she thought had healed.

"Alright, alright, don't get upset,"noveldrama

Everett stopped, keeping his

distance. "Selena, I promise I won't

do anything to upset you again. I

messed up before, and I'm really

sorry. But I just need you to know, I

can't let you go."

"So even if you're mad at me, at least tell me why. That way, I can explain or at least try to fix what I've done wrong."

"Selena, I can't change what's happened. I messed up, but moving forward... I'll be better, if you give me another chance."

He paused, then added, "Breanne was here today, wasn't she? Whatever she said, please believe me, nothing happened between us. Nothing happened with any other woman. It's always been just you."

Selena felt that familiar sting of

bitterness rise up again. Not

because of w

what he said, but

because of who she used to be

dawned on her that her depression had never really left; she'd just forced it down. Her unresolved feelings about Everett had never gone away.

Even if she knew nothing physical had happened between him and Margot, Yasmine, or any of those women... Was that enough? Did it mean no harm was done?

Those women had been real, and they'd brought her a world of hurt. Selena shut her eyes tight.

"Everett, I've got one thing to say to you. If you honestly love me, let me go. Don't drag this out any longer."
