Chapter 34 What Gives You the Right

Paul norted, “What? You want to divorce her, and I can’t plan ahead for her?”

Benjamins fell silent.

He frowned for a while before speaking, “Grandpa, Harper and I haven’t divorced yet.”

“Of course, I know you haven’t divorced yet. That’s why I hope you find a good match for her before the divorce. This way, people will know that Harper isn’t desperate to cling to you.”

Paul’s words were merciless, and his gaze towards Benjamin grew even more disdainful.

Benjamin naked, “Does Harper know about your request?”

“Whether she knows or not, what does it matter? Harper is a good girl. She will listen to me.”

“Grandpa, am I really your grandson3”

Though he knew the answer, at that moment, uncertainty crept in

Paul coldly replied. “If you weren’t my grandson. I would have broken your leg by now. Hmph”

Despite Benjamin standing at the top of the pyramid outside, where his words were law and unquestioned, in front of Paul, he was always the one who had to comply.

Unable to change Paul’s decision, Benjamin could only reluctantly agree

“Alright, I will see to it

“It’s not just seeing to it. You must make sure it’s done well. This is a top priority and must be taken seriously.”

“Okay, I understand.”

Nodding. Benjamin couldn’t help but imagine Harper holding hands with another man, introducing him to Paul.

His brow furrowed even more.

After Paul finished speaking, he dismissed Benjamin.

Although Paul’s health wasn’t in danger, he was taking the opportunity to undergo a full–body check–up, so he needed to stay in the hospital for a few more days.

Benjamin’s mood remained gloomy all day after he came out of the hospital.

Curtis noticed and proceeded cautiously, making sure not to slack off lest he became Benjamin’s punching bag.

Harper found her friend at the hospital, Julie Sullivan, the person she had first told about her pregnancy.

Julie was Harper’s cousin, the daughter of Jennifer’s sister. They had a close relationship since childhood and had even lived together for a while, which made them even closer.

Harper said, “Here I am, causing you trouble again.”

What are you talking about? You’re family,” Julie replied, pouring her a glass of water. Checking the tune, Julie added, “I’ll take you over now. She’s on duty nose, and you can completely trust her. She’s my best friend.”

Harper nodded and followed Jube to the obstetrics and gynecology department

Jules fond conducted the examination for Harper. During the ultrasound, the friend reassured Harper. “Don’t worry, the baby is healthy. But for first threw months you need to be extra careful. After that, once the pregnancy stabilizes you can go back to your usual routine

“Okar. Lunderstand. Thank you “Harper replied with a smile

Knowing the baby was healthy put her at ease.

After the check–up, Harper chatted with Julie for a while. Julie asked, Are you really not going to tell him?”

Harper shook her head. “We’re getting a divores, so there’s no need to tell him. Also, please keep it from the family for now. I don’t want to tell them yet.”

Since she had mentioned her plan of divorce with Benjamin during her last visit to the Mitchell Manor, Jennifer had been angry and hadn’t contacted

her since.

Harper had tried calling, but Jennifer refused to answer.

Julie, who understood Harper’s relationship with the Mitchell family the best, patted Harper’s shoulder and soothingly asked, “Is Aunt still indifferent towards you?”

Harper didn’t reply, simply asking, “How have you been lately?” RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only

Julie didn’t press further, just responding to Harper’s question

After chatting for a while, Julie, having patients to attend to, didn’t want to disturb Harper and bid her farewell.

Exiting the hospital, Harper decided to call Jennifer again

The call was answered by a maid, who, upon hearing Harper’s voice, responded somewhat dismissively. Knowing Harper was Jennifer’s second lady without favor, those maids didn’t bother to butter her up.

“Ms. Mitchell, is there something you need at this hour?

Is Mom at home?”

“Mrs. Jennifer Mitchell is not at home.”

What about Dad?”

“He is also not at home.” The maid then began making excuses. “Mr. Mitchell, I have some tasks to attend to. If you don’t have any urgent matters, I’ll hang up now.”

With that, the call was promptly ended, and the maid turned to report to the person coming down from upstairs, “Ms. Mitchell called just now, and 1 responded as per your instructions.”

Kimberly nodded and said, “There’s no need to inform Mom. She’s not in a good mood lately, let’s s

“Alright.”

In the evening, after finishing work, Benjamin didn’t head straight to Pineview Villa

He invited Larry and a few others to the Filige Club.

While the group shared drinks and exchanged glances, Benjamin’s face remained serious with thoughts.

Larry asked, “Benjamin, what’s on your mind?”

Furrowing his brows, Benjamin took a sip of his drink before saying, “Grandpa wants me to introduce someone to Harper, have her date them, and then get divorced. Is Harper the real grandchild of my grandfather?”

Everyone was banned.

Larry said, “What’s your plan?

Benjamin stayed silent.

Larry suggested. “How about you introduce me to Harper? My family is also pressuring me to find a wife. Though I have no feelings for Harper, we can develop them slowly. What do you think?

Benjamin’s expression darkened immediately. He glanced coldly at Lany as he replied in a detached tone, “I don’t want to hear that kind of joke a

that, he stood up and left the private room.

The group looked at Laury curiously, asking, “What does Benjamin mean? Is he going to introduce or not?”

Larry smiled, “Who knows?”

Exiting the Filige Club, Benjamin drove towards Pineview Villa.

Lauren called at that moment. “Benjamin, it’s late. Aren’t you coming back?”

Benjamin’s expression was still grim. “What’s the matter?”

She hurriedly explained, afraid of upsetting him, “Nothing, I’m just worried about you.”

After her words, Benjamin remained silent for a while.

Lauren tentatively asked, “Benjamin, are you busy?”

“No.”

She casually mentioned. “Then come back soon. Harper just got home.”

“Harper just got home?”

Lauren affirmed, then murmured, “Harper must have had an appointment.”

Benjamin didn’t continue that topic, his tone cooling as he said, “Lauren, the doctor sa

need

more rest. It’s getting late, go to bed early.”

Without waiting for Lauren’s response, he hung up.

Lauren frowned, feeling uneasy, her mind filled with doubts.

She thought, “It’s only half–past nine. Though not early, it isn’t exactly bedtime either. Has Benjamin’s feelings towards me changed?”

The more Lauren thought, the more distressed she became. Her gaze drifted to Harper, who was sitting on the other side, engrossed in her computer. Lauren stood up and walked over, looking down at Harper and asking. “Harper, do you have any issues with me living here?”

Harper, busy with her design sketches, was taken aback by the sudden question. She had purposely worked downstairs to avoid such confrontations.

She looked up at Lauren in confusion, thinking, “So when did this v woman come downstairs?”

Harper, with a glance, replied in an indifferent tone, “Ms. Davis, you have a great imagination. You should consider a career in screenwriting.”

Lauren’s face stiffened as she stared at Harper and said, “Because of you, Benjamin isn’t coming back until late. Harper, what gives you the right to trea me and Benjamin like this?”
