Chapter 213 Seamless Coordination
After returning to the city. Erin’s comic had only depicted her approaching the stage of recovering her appearance. Although she’d already drawn some digital drafts on the computer, she hadn’t uploaded them yet.
She hesitated because she didn’t know how the plot should unfold next. Would the truth be revealed in an intense manner, or should she let her son, Asa, accept her before proceeding? This hesitation caused her to stop drawing the comic for several days, which drove the editors of the comic website crazy.
The moment Erin opened the chat tool in the morning after waking up, the sound of notifications popping up one after another on her laptop was extremely jarring.
Editor: Asae Mama, are you okay?
Editor: Are you sick?
Editor: Hello?
Editor: Has your account been hacked?
Editor: Please respond as soon as you receive this!
Editor: AsaelMama…. © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
Editor: Are you giving up on the comic?
Following that was a series of crying emojis. The editor’s reaction caused Erin to be both amused and exasperated at the same time.
When she signed the contract with the comic website, she’d informed the editor in advance that she couldn’t guarantee the smooth
completion of this story. It was because Erin didn’t know the direction her life would take.
Sitting in front of the computer desk, Erin pondered for a full ten minutes before finally typing a line in reply: “I won’t give up. I’ll definitely finish the comic. I just need time.”
The editor replied instantaneously: “AsaelMama, can you give me your phone number? I would like to talk to you on the phone.”
In the end, Erin didn’t give her number. Her life was still a mess at the moment, and her interaction with her son, Asa, had just begun. She didn’t feel like drawing the comic for now. After closing her laptop, Erin went downstairs to the kitchen to have breakfast.
It was Saturday, and since she didn’t have any lessons to teach, she could only focus on matters related to her work.
The people from Truffleberry Media had called her three times, but she hadn’t answered them yet. She knew it was Sean wanting to discuss the script with her. The previous film and television company had been forced to withdraw from the project. Now, the collaboration was purely between Erin and Truffleberry Media.
Just as Erin finished breakfast and was about to call the people from Truffleberry Media to arrange a meeting time, the doorbell of the villa rang. She immediately walked across the dining room and headed toward the living room, making her way to the front hall.
Erin glanced at the person on the surveillance screen. She was unable to see their lace as it was obscured by a large bouquet of white lilies. She frowned slightly, thinking that it couldn’t be Roman–
because if it were Roman, he would have used his own key to enter. The other person was patient and held the bouquet of lilies in front of their lace. In the end, Erin opened the door.
As soon as the door opened, the lilies were immediately moved aside, revealing an extraordinarily beautiful and delicate man’s face right before Erin’s eyes.
She exclaimed in surprise, “Paulo, why are you here?”
Her tone was filled with astonishment and delight. Paulo smiled, putting one hand around her waist as he leaned down to kiss her forehead. Erin was a bit stunned by the kiss. Although she occasionally held hands and walked arm in arm with Paulo in the Garden of Eden, she’d never been kissed like this, even on the forehead.
Looking at the woman he liked staring back at him blankly, Paulo smirked mischievously. “Have I kissed you silly?”
Erin lifted her gaze, intending to look into his eyes, but the figure that appeared in her line of sight made her heart skip a beat. She
turned, he saw a tall man and a small boy standing not far away.
There stood Chandler and Asa.
Right then, Asa’s expression clearly showed that he was displeased. Erin’s heart was in chaos. Did the father and son see Paulo kissing
her earlier?
Just when Erin was at a loss about what to say, to her embarrassment, Chandler held Asa’s little hand and walked toward them. Paulo stood in place lackadaisically with one hand over Erin’s shoulder. He stared at Chandler, whom he found irritating, with a deep and
meaningful gaze.
However, Chandler’s face remained neutral. Only the chill in his eyes made Erin feel a slight tension in the air. She didn’t know why she
was so nervous.
Technically, she was now Pamela, and she had no personal relationship or acquaintance with Chandler. He was her employer, and she
was just an art teacher he hired and nothing more.
“Miss Pamela, Daddy and I made chicken and vegetable sandwiches this morning. I want to give you one to taste, but I don’t know if you’ll
like it.” Asa was already standing in front of Erin.
He held an environmentally friendly paper bag in his hand and offered the sandwich to Erin.
Erin excitedly reached out with both hands to accept it. In that instance, Paulo’s arm that had been holding Erin hung in the air awkwardly. He withdrew it, feeling slightly embarrassed.
“Asa, thank you for the sandwich. I haven’t had breakfast yet.” Erin lied without batting an eye because she wanted to please Asa.
Asa waved his hand. “You’re welcome, Miss Pamela. Can Daddy and I come in and sit for a while? I’m a bit thirsty.”
Paulo looked at the seamless coordination between the father and son, feeling displeased at their interference. He’d just arrived and they’d already started raining on his parade!
Erin immediately smiled and said. “Of course, please come in.”
Chandler remained silent throughout as if he was just an accompanying robot. He followed Asa into the house. Holding the large bouquet of lilies and sighing heavily, Paulo entered as well. After all four of them went inside, Erin brought them over to the sofa in the living room. She turned and went to the kitchen to pour everyone some water.
Paulo was initially sitting on the sofa, but when he saw Erin leave, he immediately stood up and followed her to the kitchen.
Right then, Chandler and Asa exchanged a glance, and Asa immediately understood his father’s pointed gaze. He said. “Okay, I’ll go and check.”
Asa cleverly climbed down from the sofa and scurried to the kitchen with his short legs. Chandler watched his little figure getting further and further away with a smug smile on his lips.
“Atta boy, Asa!” he cheered inwardly.
In the kitchen, Erin was confronting Paulo. “What was that about at the door just now? Did you just come back from being abroad? We don’t have the custom of greeting each other with a kiss in our country. Don’t do that next time!”
Paulo had a lopsided grin as he countered, “Why are you so nervous? Is it because you saw Chandler? Is that why you care so much?” Erin lowered her gaze and turned to grab a glass. “No! What does he have to do with anything?”
She tried to remain calm when she said that, but the underlying tension in her lone made Paulo feel a hint of helplessness. As his slender body leaned against the refrigerator door, his dark eyes suddenly caught sight of a small figure approaching them.
Paulo narrowed his eyes slightly, took a step forward, and embraced Erin from behind. He whispered in her ear, “It’s been several days since we’ve last seen each other. Did you miss me?”
Erin was startled and dropped the glass into the sink. As she turned around, she saw the small figure not far away too. Her whole body froze. “Asa-”
