Chapter 29
Scarlett didn’t deny it.
“Yeah It’s not worth it for a guy like that. Your mother–in–law watched on without doing anything as you were dying.”
Ella had already been disappointed. She wasn’t ever returning to the Martinez family.
She wiped her tears away. She was still exhausted. She knew her condition was serious, but the medicine Scarlett fed her felt good. It was more potent than the medicine she had been taking.
“Can I have your name, Miss?
“Scarlett Miller,” she replied while passing her a phone number.
She wasn’t a saint, but she just couldn’t stand those people who were bullying her.
Ella leaned against the wall weakly as she clutched the phone number in her hand.
*Alright! I’ll come look for you in half a year. Could you help give my dad a call? I’d like him to come pick me up. They snatched my phone.”
Scarlett took out her phone and had her recite the number.
As she finished, Ella fainted.
Scarlett held her with one hand and called with the other.
“Hello?” a deep voice said from the other side of the call.
“Hi, is this Mr. Moore?” Scarlett asked.
“Yes, who is this? How do you know my daughter? Where is she?
“She’s in the lounge of Goldway Hotel. Her asthma acted up so she had me give you a call since she wanted to go home. Don’t worry, I’ve given her some special medication. It’s not life–threatening.”
“Thank you, ma’am! Is this your phone number? I’m nearby. I’ll be there soon.
“Alright,” Scarlett replied. After hanging up, she helped Ella get up.
Ella opened her eyes slowly and teared up
“Is my dad coming to pick me up? I cut ties with him for that man… He must be so hurt because of what I did. Why would he come fetch me?”
Back then, when she stormed off, Donald shouted from behind as she left, “Ella! That man isn’t the one for you! If you’re ever tired, come home. Your parents will always love you.
“I used to think my parents were being hypocrites. If they loved me, why stop me from being with the man I’loved?
“Hack when I left, my sister, Elizabeth Moore, only had one request. She told me not to let Joseph know the truth about our family. I guess she knew I wasn’t going to be happy all along.”
Ella chuckled bitterly.
“Y’know what they say, love is blind. My parents were far more aware since they could see it all happening from the side.”
Scarlett was relieved that Ella’s mind was cleared, it was better late than never,
“It’s great that you’re thinking clearly now. Your dad said he’s nearby, He’ll come pick you up soon. I’ll take you there”
Ella said thankfully, “okay. I’m exhausted and sleepy. I haven’t slept in three days.”
she had only gotten a few hours of sleep as she was trying to make a handmade birthday gift for her husband
“Hold on for a while. It’ll only take a few minutes to get down there. I’ll bring you to the roadside. Rest well once you get home,”
“okay,” Ella said. She was struggling to keep her eyes open. She missed her parents. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
Yet, she still couldn’t stay awake. She leaned on Scarlett’s shoulder and fell asleep.
Scarlett sighed deeply. She wanted to put her down and wait for Donald to arrive
“Oh goodness, she’s been killed!” Ella’s mother–in–law, Hannah said, bringing a group of people over
She looked at Scarlett holding onto Ella and got an idea. She would shift the blame to Scarlett. Then, Ella’s death would have nothing to do with the Martinez family
Scarlett’s lips parted as she heard her say that. “Ma’am…” she muttered, glancing at her coldly
Joseph walked up to Scarlett angrily. “Hmph! Who are you? Why did you kill my cousin?”
