Love on the Fast Track

Chapter 1417

Chapter 1417:

After freshening up, Norah called her family and informed them of her progress. She estimated that if things went smoothly, she’d return home in a few days.

She didn’t realize that Sean had already informed Kason about her being taken to the military district, seeking assurance that everything was alright.

The following morning, while having breakfast in the cafeteria, Norah was surprised to see Kason sitting across from her.

She raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. “Can you still visit the military district after retiring?”

She wasn’t familiar with the district’s rules, so her question was genuine.

Kason’s expression remained calm as he replied, “The Commander is important to me. When I heard he was injured, I had to come and see him.”

It turned out Kason had already visited before and was the one who had recommended Norah to Xenia. He placed immense trust in Norah’s medical expertise and was willing to rely on her for the treatment.

“I hope I haven’t caused you any trouble. You’re here because of me. After Sean told me, I came to check on you. If there’s anything you need, just let me know. I’ll help however I can,” Kason explained.

It dawned on Norah that Kason had come out of concern for her. His presence was reassuring, though she couldn’t help but remember his psychological trauma. She silently hoped he wouldn’t experience any recurring nightmares during this period.

“If you’ve got other things to handle, don’t worry about me. Dr. Martel is nice. With her around, everything should be fine.”

Kason pressed his lips together. “I’m deeply concerned about the Commander’s condition. Let me stay here for now.”

“Suit yourself,” Norah replied indifferently.

She wasn’t in a position to dictate his actions. Besides, she still wasn’t sure how much help she could provide without first diagnosing the Commander’s condition.

After breakfast, Xenia arrived to inform Norah that she could now visit the patient.noveldrama

“Captain Dawson’s condition has stabilized. Your surgical skills are quite impressive, Dr. Wilson,” Xenia remarked as they walked.

“It’s good to hear. After performing countless surgeries, you realize there’s little that’s truly difficult,” Norah smiled.

Even if complications had arisen during yesterday’s procedure, she handled them efficiently. After all, she was a specialist in cardiac surgery and was confident in her abilities.

Xenia smiled awkwardly, unsure how to respond. As someone with years of experience in the hospital, she had felt powerless during the previous day’s crisis. It had been a humbling reminder of her limitations.

Four young men in military uniforms accompanied them, walking at a respectful distance. They served as both bodyguards and security personnel.

Eventually, they arrived at a single room on the top floor. After undergoing a thorough security check, Norah was finally allowed inside.

“Please be patient with us under these unusual conditions,” Xenia said. After all, Norah was not stationed in the military district.

“The doctor overseeing the Commander’s health is already here,” Xenia added.

She had initially only examined the Commander, but her limited skills had led to her being excluded from the treatment. Had it not been for her invitation to the Supernatural Doctor, she wouldn’t have been allowed to re-enter.
