Chapter 58
They got to Camille’s house soon. Rita was surprised to see the cars that followed them all the way to her house. Rodrigo informed her that they were his, Rita was surprised but she loved this new him. Her parents went back home, promising to come by for dinner later in the Senator’s house.
“Lord, I’ve missed this place”, Rodrigo sighed.
He and Rita occupied a car with two of the security details who sat in front.
“I’m sure she has missed you too”, Rita said, snuggling in his arms.
The car stopped in front of the driveway. Rodrigo climbed out of the car, pulling Rita with him. They made their way to the front door, Rita pressed the doorbell, waiting for a response.
The door opened soon to reveal the beautiful face of Camille. When she saw who was with rita, her eyes widened.
“No… It can’t be”, she croaked.
“Mother”, Rodrigo said, falling into his mother’s waiting arms.
Rita shed tears of joy at this reunion. She was moved to joined them but she stayed put since it was a family reunion.
“All these days, I thought you were dead and now you’re here”, Camille sobbed.
“Mother please, stop crying”, Rodrigo sighed.Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
“I can’t help it. I thought I lost my only child and here you are, alive and might I say rich”, she chuckled, staring at his convoy.
“There’s someone I want you to meet”, Rodrigo said.
Senator Brabra came out from a corner of the building, giving her a lopsided smile. Rita watched the mixed emotions as Camille stared at him. Finally, her eyes showed peace.
“Wilson”, she sobbed.
She walked towards him quickly, hugging him as tears streamed down her eyes. Rodrigo sighed and Rita knew that there was nothing he could do as they were still clearly in love.
“Camille… I had no idea you were pregnant with my child, God! How can you forgive me”, he croaked.
“It’s okay, I guess everything works for our good. It might only be delayed but at last, everything would surely work out for our good”, she smiled.
“Can we go in. It’s freezing here”, Rodrigo grumbled.
Rita hit his chest playfully, knowing that he didn’t really like the Senator’. They headed inside but not before Rodrigo instructed his security team to secure the perimeter.
They made their way to Camille’s comfy living room, taking seats beside the fireplace to keep them warm.
“This is all I’ve ever dreamed of”, Camille said.
“I know, and I’m glad it is finally here”, Rita smiled.
“How did I ever miss it, I mean your pregnancy. Now, I feel like a fool”, Senator Brabra said, putting his hands on his head.
“I didn’t tell you so I guess I’m to take part in the blame. I was so scared that if I told you, you would reject me too. I’m sorry”, Camille said, wringing her hands together.
“Don’t be please, this is all my fault. I should have been more sensitive and shouldn’t have listened to my parents”, he said.
“Can we stop with the pity party and actually rejoice that I’m alive”, Rodrigo chuckled.
“Son, I owe you a huge apology. I never knew that your mother was pregnant with you, if I had known I would never have left her in that condition”, he said.
Rodrigo took a deep breath. Rita gave his hands a gentle squeeze, willing him to forgive his father. After all, he was safe which is all that matters.
“It’s fine… Dad”, Rodrigo said with an ear splitting grin.
Rita laughed, basking in the moment that was free from evil thoughts. All she could feel around her was love, pure undiluted love.
“There’s something else I want to say”, Rodrigo said.
He faced Rita, kissing her palm. Rita felt like her heart would burst from all the joy and excitement she was witnessing.
“Shoot son, we’re listening”, Senator Brabra said.
“I’m going to get married to Rita. I know it’s quite early especially since I just returned but I’ve never been so sure of something before. Rita has stood by me even when I was still her chaffeur. She included mother in her company’s health care system”, he said.
“She gave me something to look forward to and I know, she’s the right woman for me. We haven’t decided anything yet as this is just me making the introductions but I’m sure she has no problem with getting married to me”, Rodrigo chuckled.
Rita pecked his cheek, sending in all the warmth and love. She expected this, ever since their relationship began. Ever since the very first day he began working for her, she had wanted him to say these words to her and now, her dreams were finally coming true.
“This is one of the best news I’ve heard this year”, Senator Brabra beamed.
“Me too. I have no problems with your union, I bless it”, Camille said with tears streaming down her eyes.
“Thank you. I’ll go inform her parents soon and then the wedding preparations would begin”, he laughed.
“And I’ll go make my homemade spaghetti. I hope y’all are hungry”, Rita laughed, rising to her feet.
Camille laughed, following her into the kitchen. Rodrigo and Senator Brabra were left alone in the living room. There was a small awkward pause but the Senator broke the silence, clearing his throat.
“How did you survive all alone?”, he asked.
“To be honest, it was hard but I’m glad I’m alive”, Rodrigo smiled.
“I’m glad too. Please, if there’s anything you need don’t hesitate to come to me. I want to make it up to you”, he said, quietly.
Rodrigo stared at him. He had a good mind to refuse his offer but when he remembered the look of joy on his mother’s face, he bit his words. He didn’t want to be selfish knowing fully well that his mother had never been happier.
“I doubt I’ll do that but not to worry, I’ll keep your promise in mind”, Rodrigo said.
“Thank you”, Senator Brabra sighed.
Soon, the women he loved came out from the kitchen, carrying bowls of steaming hot spaghetti. Rita sat beside him, placing her feet on his lap as she guzzled down her food.
“This is the best damn spaghetti I’ve eaten in a long while”, Rodrigo chuckled.
“Good, prepare to be stuffed with more”, Rita laughed.
“I can’t wait especially now that I have you by my side”, he smiled.
Rita placed her plate on a nearby table as she scooted to be much more closer to him.
“I’m glad you’re back”, she said, softly.
“Like I said before, I’ll always find you sugar girl”.
