Chapter 38
“Move faster!” Someone pushed her from behind. She rolled her eyes and tried to walk faster. Her legs hurt. She had been sitting down for quiet few hours before June arrived with few men on tow to take her away. She saw no reason to put on a fight so she followed them. She though they would be driving somewhere but it had been around 15 minutes and they were still walking. She didn’t recognize the place but the whole area was a little too dark. They were surrounded by trees except for a small path which they were walking on. Since it was too dark, the three men June had brought with her had large flashlights in their hands and the fact that June had not bothered to put a blindfold on her eyes made her a bit more conscious about the fact that it was it was too stupid of a move for June to not do so. That could only mean that it didn’t matter whether Sara saw her surroundings or not. They might not be returning back.
Sara watched June talk softly with a large guy in front of them. The fact that June knew such people had come as a surprise but then again, money can buy everything now days.
After walking for few more minutes, they arrived in a clearing. Sara was thankful to see two cars parked there. That meant she won’t have to walk anymore. She couldn’t even count how many times she had come close to twisting her ankle. But she frowned when they thought that they might be going further away from town. She didn’t doubt that Dean was already looking for her but that would make his job harder for him and she really didn’t want that or go away even further away with such mentally ill human beings.
“Don’t worry, you’ll see your Dean soon.” June suddenly said.
Her head snapped up to look at June. Watching the half smirk on the face she thought she knew everything about just sent a shiver down her spine but she kept her mouth shut and started praying that Dean wouldn’t try to be too impulsive. As long as he wasn’t alone, it would give her a bit of peace.
One of the guys grabbed her arm and pushed her inside the car which she would have willingly sat in if they have asked. The man followed inside to sit beside her while June and another guy took the front. Sara tried to look around to see if she could somehow recognize where they were but she really had no idea. Their town had trees on two of its side and she had never come so far off to know her way around. She was clumsy with directions in the first place so she had realized that she wasn’t going to be any help for now so she waited till they started driving. Her eyes were outside the whole time.
It wasn’t until few minutes passed when June called someone.
“Are you alone? You better be or else you can say goodbye to your O’Brian.”
Sara’s head snapped towards June head. Her ears eagerly waiting to see if Dean’s voice leaked through but she couldn’t hear anything from that side.
“No, you can’t talk to Sara. Don’t worry, she is alive and well.”
Sara wanted to smack the back of June’s head with the bulky guy sitting beside her as she glared at June. She wanted to talk to Dean, just to make sure that he wouldn’t come alone, just to make sure he wouldn’t be stupid about it all.
“We’ll be there soon.” With that June hung up and turned to look Sara in the eyes as she smiled. Sara just blankly stared at June in reply. She didn’t want to raise June’s amusement with her. June probably saw her indifference because she frowned and spit out, “You should hold on to the thought of Dean being alright till you can. It won’t be long before he….”
June didn’t continue and Sara knew it was probably for affects that she did that. Sara still had no idea what was going on nor she knew what June had planned to do. Did she wanted to kill Dean? But according to how much hate she holds within herself for Dean, it seemed too easy to simply kill Dean. Then what? What could she have planned which would hurt Dean?
Suddenly a though flashed in her mind. The only thing which could hurt Dean was her. She, herself was the only thing which was capable of hurting Dean which meant, June had no plans to kill Dean. This was revenge, that meant she was going to make Dean suffer like her sister had which was to live without the one she loved. That could only mean that June had every plan to kill her.
The though sent a chill down her spine but she slowly calmed herself down. She didn’t want to think about it. Not when she was still alive to change the future. Also, as long as June had no thought of physically hurting Dean, she was actually fine with everything else even if that meant dying herself.
She didn’t know how long the ride was before they reached their destination. The trees were long gone and they finally stopped in front of an under constructed building. She recognized the place. They weren’t far from her home. She had seen the building a few times on her way to the mall but unfortunately it was too late at night for anyone to be around but why did June came back to town?
The man who was beside her came to her side and pulled her down from the car. She glared at being man handled but almost immediately her eyes started searching for Dean’s figure. She was being pushed and pulled into the building. It’s first floor was almost constructed so they were hidden from the view when they entered inside.
She saw a lone figure standing in the dark the second the entered inside. Her eyes lit up seeing him. She felt like she hadn’t seen him for so long. Before she could call out his name, she felt the cold metal being pressed against her temple and her voice got stuck in her throat.
“Let her go.” Dean softly warned. He was looking at her right in the eyes instead of looking at June who had a sickening smirk on her face. His dark eyes held such possessiveness that she almost called out his name. How can she miss him so much in such short time?
“You think after what you did to my sister, I would let you go so easily?”
She saw Dean roll his eyes and he spit out, “Is your whole family delusional? I didn’t even know about your sister’s existence till yesterday! How many times would I have to repeat myself!”
“You liar!” June shouted and suddenly pulled out a gun and aimed at Dean. Sara’s heart almost came out of her chest and she started to struggle.
“Listen to me, June. Dean wasn’t the one who slept with your sister. It’s impossible for him to do so!” Sara tried to calmly say. She didn’t want anyone to get hurt anymore. Though she felt no pity for June, she just wanted this whole drama to end. She didn’t know how long June have lived in this hate but just imagining someone living solely with such dark emotions was disturbing.
“Shut up! Of course you would believe him. Why won’t you? My sister wasn’t lying.” June screamed. She looked like a wild animal ready to pounce but Sara still just felt sorry for her such state.
“I never said she was, I just meant she might have been mistaken. Dean was with me, every night, every day before he left. He had never left for more than 15 minutes from my side. It is impossible for him to be the one who slept with your sister.” Sara once again tried to calm June down. She had thought about it a million times and she was more than sure that June’s sister was either lying or she had made a mistake. Dean had always been with her in the last month before he disappeared. Even Sara herself found it strange why he was being so damn clingy but that was enough proof for her to know that it was impossible for Dean to ever do something like that.
“I told you to shut up! He ruined my sister! My nephew! He is that bastard!” June was now shaking and Sara couldn’t take her eyes away from the gun which was aimed at Dean who looked a little too calm.
Suddenly Dean laughed. It was a dry, mocking laugh aimed at June who just looked even more furious. Dean slowly picked up a file from a beside him and threw at June who looked at him with glaring confusion.
“You sister was not only mistaken about who she slept with but also being pregnant. She was never pregnant. Here is her medical file. She did go for a test, multiple but she wasn’t. Whoever slept with her wasn’t as stupid as to leave his sperm inside. Everything she showed you was a lie. I talked to her doctor; she had suggested your sister to get help.” Dean said and slowly leaned back, his eyes still on Sara. It was like he was refusing to acknowledge that they weren’t alone.
June shaking got worse but it seemed she still had a little of sanity left in her to drop the hand which held the gun and walked towards the file slowly. With shivering hands, she picked it up and opened it. Sara watched how her eyes slowly skimmed through its content. She looked at Dean with worried eyes who simply softly smiled at her but Sara still couldn’t shake the fear from within.
After few minutes, June slowly threw away the file. Her eyes were wide open, horror, shock and surprise were dancing within them and Sara prayed that logic would win within her.
“I saw the ultrasounds! I saw the baby inside her stomach!” June whispered.NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
“Did you physically go with her to her appointments?” Sara softly asked.
“No… but… I… I saw the messages she sent you! I saw them. I also saw your replies!” June once again screamed, the gun was once again shaking towards Dean and Sara again started struggling. The gun on her temple was pressed deeper but she couldn’t find in herself to care but Dean’s eyes darkened.
“When I never slept with her, how would I send any messages to her about it? I have never been contacted by anyone, not even Drake in the two years I was away. Did you really think I would keep in contact with your sister when I couldn’t even talk to Sara?” Dean sounded annoyed as he replied.
“Shut up! Shut up! My sister…. my sister wasn’t a liar! You got these reports made, didn’t you? How far will you go to make my sister crazy!” June once again screamed. Sara realized that June was too far to step away now. It wasn’t just her pride but her mind as well which was too far gone into this obsession for her to listen to any word of reasoning.
The gun in her hand was moved from Dean to her as June shouted, “I will let you feel the same way my sister did all those years! I will make sure you feel the same hunger, frustration and pain my sister felt as she waited for you!”
Dean was still looking in her eyes as if trying to calm her down but she could see the raising panic in his eyes. The fact that June might be hurting her have not crossed his mind. The fear that was dancing in his eye was somehow making her braver as she turned her head and looked at her friend.
“Enough, June. You need to wake up before its too late. You can hate me, despise me but please for once just think back to everything once again. You need to see that we don’t deserve this, you don’t deserve this.” Sara whispered as she looked in those pained eyes of June.
“My sister didn’t deserve this either.” June whispered back, the tears in her eyes finally spilled as she finally pulled the trigger.
The sound of multiple shots echoed into the silent building.
