Chapter 2400
Sophie was pacing anxiously in her room, her worry palpable. Without thinking, she blurted out, "Weren't you all about Estelle? How did you switch gears so fast and start fancying someone else?"
Jason looked at her with a mocking grin, "You were all about Robin before, so why the sudden change of heart towards me?"
Sophie's face turned pale, and she stumbled back a step, "When did I ever like you?"
Jason cornered her against the wall, his gaze intense, "Are you saying you don't like me?"
Sophie, panicking, shook her head, "I don't like you!"
"You're lying!"
"I-..."
Sophie woke up with a start, her breathing heavy in the darkness. It took her a moment to realize it had been just a nightmare.
With a shaken expression, she slapped her forehead in the dark, berating herself. How could she have dreamt something like that?
The scare had driven away her sleepiness. She got up and walked to the balcony, her eyes adjusting to the thick of the night. From there, she could see Jason's room.
To her surprise, his room light was still on.
He's still awake?
Sophie arched an eyebrow, glanced at the clock-it was already 2 a.m.
She watched the light shining in the night for a moment, then took a deep breath and went back to try and catch some more sleep.
The next day, when Jason came to call her, Sophie had just woken up. She slipped on her slippers and walked out to the balcony, her voice groggy, "Give me ten minutes!"
Jason checked his watch, "Alright, ten minutes."
Sophie quickly washed up, got dressed, and was downstairs in less than ten minutes.
She jogged over to him, and Jason eyed her, "Didn't sleep well?"
"Huh?" Sophie immediately went on the defensive, shaking her head, "No, I slept great. Didn't dream a thing!"
Jason's expression remained neutral, "The thing with Robin is in the past. Whether he's good or bad, it shouldn't concern you. Don't overthink it." That's when Sophie realized Jason thought her restless night was due to Robin.
She gave a sheepish smile, "I know."
Seeing her listless, Jason assumed she was unable to move past Robin, and he felt a pang of sadness.
Lost in their thoughts, for the first time, their morning jog was void of their usual banter, eerily quiet.
After the run, Sophie went home, greeted Jasmine with a nod, and went upstairs to shower.
Jasmine remarked to Auntie Wennie, "Something's off. Usually, after acun, she's like a wolf attacking its prey, as if she hadn't eaten in days. Today,Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
she headed straight upstairs"

Auntie Wennie said, "She went out drinking last night, maybe she's feeling sick?"
Jasmine nodded, "Probably!"
Auntie Wennie busied herself, "I'll make a lighter soup, help her with the hangover."

After her shower and breakfast, Sophie went back to her office to start working. Around 9 a.m., Crystal called her, "You weren't hurt last night, were you?"
"No, I'm fine. What about you?" Sophie asked.
"Bruised my leg a bit, but it's
nothing," Crystal fumed. "I was so mad I skipped breakfast. I called the police station earlier. Someone had already pulled some strings.

Miranda and Darcy won't be getting out, and Hilary and Romeo got fired, their careers in B City are over!"
Sophie replied, "Then try not to be too mad."
"Our nice gathering got ruined!" Crystal continued, "When Miranda gets out, I won't let her off easy!"
They chatted for a bit more, and
Crystal said, "Thank goodness for Jason being there yesterday. Thank him for me, will you? I'll treat him to dinner when he's free."
"Sure thing!"
