Fated is overrated

Chapter 13

Lola

POV

At least I'd go out with dignity rather than having to take the punches just to survive. But then again, I have survived for years and years, I can't give up in my final year, I'm almost there. But I still want to show that I am not fazed by their beatings, even though it

might only enrage them more.

The thought of ripping out some of their throats comes to mind and I accidentally smile before I can reign it back in, which is a bad move on my end. Ashton's smile vanishes and I can tell he and Chris are mind linking (a form of telepathic communication which can only be done between packmates or mates after they have marked one another.

It can only be done between individuals who have a wolf). Both of their faces are getting more lethal by the second. Just as both men start stomping their way towards me, the school principal comes in to view and gasps at the sight of me.

"Lola what happened to you?!". I see Chris and Ashton halting in their tracks from the corner of my eye, as they can't risk the principal ratting them out to Alpha Culio. Slightly relieved, I turn my full attention to the principal.

"I uhm... I fell. Clumsy me" I shrug. He glares at me for what feels like ages, clearly not believing a word I was telling him. Then he proceeds to look around at Nadia, Jason and then Chris and Ashton who had stepped forward. Just as he is about to speak, the bell to class rings. Many sentences in this chapter have been removed because you are not reading them on Jo-bn=ib.com We nod to the principal in goodbye, heading to class whilst still feeling his gaze lingering on me until I enter the classroom.

The first class is history. I share this one with Nadia and apparently also with Sebastian as he comes to sit beside me again. Unlike the other day, he wasn't smiling at me, his expression was full of anger.

Did I do something wrong? Did someone say something to him about me? Not that I care as much anyways - but still... "who did that to you?!" he whisper yells to me. His eyes changing from their vibrant green color to black and back. "I uhm, I fell. No big deal". "Don't give me that! I know what a beating looks like Lola and you did not just fall down...

Now tell me who did this!". Contemplating on what to say to the new student, I get pulled from my thoughts by someone clearing their throat loudly "AHEM! Sebastian and Lola, care to pay attention to my class like the rest of the students?". Blushing embarrassedly and looking at my desk, I reply a soft" sorry Mrs. Levine".

She seems to have heard my answer as she proceeds with her lecture about wolf history. One of my favorite classes! She proceeds about the ancient wars, the origins of the Kingdom and the werewolf council. I am sunk into the lecture when I get startled by a small note being thrown onto my desk. Hesitantly, I open it up to read "who did that to you Lola?

I know I am new to the pack and perhaps you don't trust me yet, but I hate seeing someone being beaten up like this. This is not OK!!". Before I can even think of a reply, another note comes crashing onto my desk, this time from further away in the class. Looking backward, I see Melissa furiously staring at me.

Her eyes could shoot daggers they would. I open the note "talk and you are dead. I'll make sure of that!". If she didn't have backup from the Alpha, Beta, Delta and their posse I would have totally snorted at her note, considering the weakling she is.

I look at Sebastian, who has followed my gaze up to Melissa and is connecting the dots on his own. I see his jaw twitching and his fists clenching. I decide to quickly write him a note "it's nothing OK? Please calm down! Let's talk at lunch?", but before I can throw it he barges out of class without another word. Mrs. Levine is startled by the sudden movement but yells after him what he thinks he is doing, but to no avail."

Mrs. Levine, can I go check on him please if everything is OK?" I can't just leave him like that and furthermore, I'm afraid he will go to the principal and spill the beans and I'll really be dead next time. "Eh sure, but be quick". And with that I bolt out of the classroom in search of Sebastian.

Having walked through the hallways for minutes calling his name, I can't seem to find him anywhere and I grow increasingly concerned. Rounding towards the principal's office, I see him heading in that direction and

panic surges through me "Sebastian please don't! It'll only make it worse! Please let's talk". Hesitating for a moment, he walks towards me and says "we can't let that b*tch get away with this Lola, look at you!" "it's not just her Sebastian.. The future Alpha and Beta were there as well.

In fact, this * signaling all over me* is mostly the Beta's doing...". Sebastian's face is contorted with shock "what? How?! They are supposed to protect their pack members?!"

I sigh. Yes, they are... "I know.. but like I said, it's fine, I just have to stick it out one more year until I've finished school and am able to leave". Sebastian looks at me with a range of emotion swirling through his eyes, before he closes the remaining distance between us and cups my cheeks with both hands.

"OK, but please promise me you will call me to walk you to or from school if you have to go by yourself OK?" not going to happen I think to myself, since I have fighting lessons after school every day, but I'll comply to get him off my case "OK, I will!" "I know you're bullshitting me because you don't even have my number, yet.

But please, for the love of god Lola, call me when you need anyone" as he scribbled his phone number on a small note and hands it to me. I take the note and give a small smile.

"Now let's head back to class, Mrs. Levine will have both our asses if I don't bring you back shortly". He nods back and gives a small smile in return, but I can tell he is still not feeling the greatest about all of this.

We finish the rest of the lecture without further incident. I for one got sucked backed into my favorite subject and am enthralled to learn more about the history of the Kingdom and the royal family, up from the start to the present.

The lecture doesn't go into details about Lycans in general, they never do, but that's OK as I have read about that in my spare time anyway.

And as I am not taking any fighting lessons until my features have healed, I will probably spend the time that has just opened up in my calendar reading more anyway.

Although I still want to spar with Jason, I know he wouldn't spar with me in my current state. So I may go to the warrior grounds and watch them train to pick up on some techniques. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
