Chapter 63
"Even if he's perfect, he's not what I want in a man. And after asking for more than 50 thousand dollars? He's really pushing it!" Natasha said.
Meanwhile, Zachary was in the middle of a meeting. For some inexplicable reason, he couldn't shake the feeling that someone was badmouthing him. Julian immediately rushed over, seeing him stare into blank space.
"Mr. Foster, you really should take better care of yourself..."
Driven by her anger, Natasha went on a shopping spree, hitting up store after store.
"This outfit looks nice. It should fit your figure well," Liana said, sipping on her smoothie while helping Natasha pick out clothes.
The sales associate's arms were already piled high with clothes, and as Natasha stepped out of the fitting room, she wondered if she'd gone too far.
"Honestly, these designs are pretty good," Liana added with a nod of approval. Getting the approval of Liana, a designer herself, Natasha smiled helplessly.
Standing in front of the mirror and taking a good look at herself, she noticed that the clothes she was trying on seemed tailor-made for her curves. The whole outfit made her look noticeably taller.
"I'll take this one," she said decisively.
She didn't attend many formal events anyway, so she didn't need a closet full of fancy clothes.
As the two of them were about to pay, a black card suddenly slid across the counter.
"Put it on mine," a familiar voice said.
Natasha froze. Before she could react, the cashier had already swiped the card and settled the bill.
"I'm heading back first," Liana said quickly, giving Natasha a knowing look. She could tell that things between these two weren't easy to explain. It was best to leave them to it.
"Text me when you get home."
After Liana left, Natasha found herself sitting face-to-face with Molly.
"I didn't expect to run into you here, Ms. Spencer," Natasha said, her tone distant and indifferent.
Molly wasn't surprised. Anyone would have a temper after everything that had happened.
"I'll transfer you the money for the clothes," Natasha added immediately. She didn't like owing favors for no reason.
But Molly didn't even seem to hear her. Instead, she said, "You're really nothing like Nicole."
Normally, at a time like this, Nicole would've hinted at wanting even more gifts. "And what brings you here today?" Natasha asked casually, leaning back in her chair, looking completely at ease.noveldrama
"I know it was you who saved me that day," Molly said. "And no matter the mistakes I made before, I can only try to make up for them now. There's 200 thousand dollars on this card."
She pushed the card toward Natasha.
Natasha was caught off guard by the sudden windfall. But she had never saved someone expecting a reward.
"There's no need. Take it back. Just be more careful with who you trust next time," Natasha said coolly.
She stood up, ready to leave, but Molly's next words made her pause in her tracks.
"I know you love medicine, and that because of Hayden, you never got the chance to further your studies," Molly said.
Those words hit harder than Natasha expected. After spending some time in the lab, she had finally found her true purpose in life.
"Whether you forgive me or not, there's now an opportunity. A well-known researcher from an overseas research institute is attending an academic conference here in the country. I can introduce you to Quentin Anderson," Molly added.
Before Natasha could respond, Molly quickly slipped her business card into her bag and left the coffee shop.
The offer was indeed tempting. Quentin was already well-known by the time Natasha first entered university. He had even visited their campus to give a lecture, but she had never been able to meet him in person, and she regretted it for months.
What do you think?
