Chapter 318
What was for dinner? She felt a wave of nervousness when he arrived. Her breathing became uneven as he leaned down. But eventually, he pulled her out of bed and guided her to the dining room, where a steaming plate of pasta awaited.
Vespera glanced at the pasta and then the spread of dishes on the table, feeling bewildered.
"Did you make this?" she asked.
Dominic sat down across from her. "I magically summoned it," he replied.
Vespera was taken aback. "You can cook!" she exclaimed.
Dominic gave a slight smile. "Not at all. As a privileged young man, I'm usually so clueless that I can't even tell sugar from salt. I didn't know you needed to add water to pasta, and I couldn't even figure out how to turn on the gas stove. It took me a while to get past these hurdles."
Vespera fell silent, picking up her utensils to eat quietly. The food tasted fine— neither extraordinary nor noticeably flawed. She refrained from showing any surprise or excitement, fearing his teasing. Hadn't Raymond always taken care of him? Did he really need to cook on his own?
Dominic seemed to read her thoughts. "Vespera, there are cooking tutorials on the Internet. I just learn quickly. Don't overthink it."
"You're really impressive," Vespera said sincerely.
Dominic's smile was playful. "I'm good at everything, after all."
Vespera thought, "Enough of this topic!"
Dominic offered her some meat. "Eat up. You need to be strong enough to massage my wrist."
Vespera suddenly choked on the pasta, which went down the wrong way, and turned her face bright red.
"Vespera, why are you so thrilled just because you're asked to massage my wrist?" Dominic poured her a glass of water and handed it over. "Drink this to soothe your throat."
Vespera was mortified with embarrassment. After the meal, Dominic carried her back to the room. He handed her a hot pack along with his hand. Vespera held the hot pack, staying silent for three seconds before grasping his hand and giving his wrist a quick, half-hearted rub.
"Alright..."
She was about to pull away when he caught her hand. He traced the veins on her palm with his fingertips, a gentle yet firm motion that made her breathe faster with an itchy
sensation. She bit her lip and
unconsciously clenched her legs,noveldrama
feeling the heat rise to her cheeks.
"Vespera, you've been so diligent in helping me with the treatment. Now it's my turn to assist you."
Her heart raced wildly. Her breathing was as labored as if she had just run a marathon. She tried to pull her hand back, but felt no resistance.
"There's no need for you to repay me."
"Don't be so formal with me..."
The last remnants of anger dissolved in their kiss. They sank into soft, fragrant pillows. His gentle yet passionate kiss deepened delicately while his slender, bony hands exuded enchanting power.
A storm brewing between heaven and earth swept over snow-capped mountains, skimmed across wheat fields, and churned the sea into towering waves.
Eyes shut and trembling, she clung tightly to him, her fingernails breaking the skin through his shirt. Tears were nearly spilling over. Dominic pulled away from her lips, slowly catching his breath.
He lifted his head slightly and said, "Vespera, I've repaid you. It's time for me to go."
Vespera was speechless. As he started to rise, she hooked her leg around his waist, glaring at him angrily without uttering a word.
Dominic softly kissed the edge of her lips. "If we keep going, I'll end up taking advantage of you, and you'll get upset again."
Set
Vespera continued to glare at him. Suddenly wrapping her arms around his neck, she leaned in and bit his collarbone hard. As he flinched from the pain, her warm little tongue was already sliding over his throat. His breath hitched.
In the next instant, his warm damp hand gently stroked the slender leg wrapped around his waist. A distant roll of thunder sounded outside the window. In southern summers, oppressive heat built all day, unleashing heavy nighttime downpours.
Southeast-wind-driven rain pounded the windows. Lightning and thunder cracked
as rain streamed down in torrents, seemingly determined to seep through window cracks and soak the floor within.
What do you think?
