He was like a little grown-up-always so considerate and sweet.

It was late, somewhere in the early hours, when Tim's fever finally broke. Chloe had been cradling him the whole night, and exhaustion finally caught up with her. She nodded off right there, leaning against whoever was beside her.

When she woke up, she realized she had been sleeping on Connor's shoulder. He'd stayed perfectly upright the whole time, even keeping one arm around her so she wouldn't slump over.

Chloe straightened up in a panic. "Oh my gosh, I'm sorry! That was so out of line.” Connor just looked at her calmly. "No need. I should be thanking you."

Right then, Tim started to stir in Chloe's arms. His fever was gone, but he was still miserable and whiny, tears welling up in his eyes. "Daddy, Mommy, I want to go home. Can we go home now?"

Chloe and Connor shared a look. After a quick discussion, they decided to head back to Sakura Town-their little hometown a few hours away.

Sakura Town was over three hundred kilometers from here, but with the bullet train, it only took about two hours. By the time they got back, it was almost noon.

During all this, Chloe kept texting Grayson, letting him know what was happening and that they were heading home. Grayson's reply was short: Mr. Connor is an important client and a friend. Make sure to take good care of him.

Chloe didn't think too much about it. She just asked when he'd be back. Grayson said he'd need another week.

Once they arrived in Sakura Town, someone came to pick them up and drove them straight to Chloe's place. All four of them piled out of the car.

Chloe handed Connor the medicine the hospital had prescribed and explained carefully how to use each one. Connor took everything naturally and thanked her, "Thank you for all your help these past few days, Ms. Rose. I hope we'll meet again."

Remembering Grayson's reminder Chloe added, "My flower shop is just down at the east end of this street. If you need anything while you're in Japan, Mr. Connor, please come find me.”

Connor nodded, as polite as ever. "Thank you. I hope we see each other again soon."

Then he patted sleepy little Tim, who was still half out of it in his arms. "Tim, say goodbye to Miss Rose. We're leaving now."

Tim was groggy, and with everyone speaking Japanese, he had no idea what was going on. But Connor gave him a little nudge, and suddenly Tim woke right up. When he realized they were leaving, he started crying on the spot. "I don't want to go! I want to stay with Mommy!"

Connor didn't say much he just tried to calm Tim down, but it didn't help at all.

Finally, Chloe couldn't take it anymore. "If you trust me, Mr. Connor, maybe Tim could stay here for the night?"

Connor looked at her, totally composed. "I do trust you, Ms. Rose. In that case, Tim and I will stay for one night, if that's all right."

Chloe blinked in surprise. She'd only meant for Tim to stay-she hadn't expected Mr. Connor to move in too. But maybe he just wasn't comfortable leaving his son alone, and she could understand that.

Besides, Chloe had her own reasons. There were things she wanted to clear up with him.

So she just nodded. "Come on in, Mr. Connor."

Connor didn't hesitate. He picked up Tim and followed Chloe into the house.
