CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1610

That was why Mr. Lucas was so furious and displeased when Ben so casually brought Jamie, an "outsider," into his private space.

"Do older people all lose their sense of reasoning? I've already told you that Jamie isn't an outsider," Ben sneered, his tone sharp with ridicule.

"You dare talk to me like that?" Mr. Lucas nearly leaped out of bed, his face flushing an angry shade of red.

Ben let out a dry chuckle, his expression practically screaming, "You're not just irrational, you're deaf too."

Though his words seemed harmless on the surface, their cutting undertone was impossible to miss.

Mr. Lucas turned an even darker shade, his face swelling like it might explode, as he clutched his chest and struggled for breath. "How did I end up with such a disgrace of a son!" Ben's pupils contracted slightly.

Jamie quickly realized something was wrong. She rushed to press the call button, summoning the medical staff.

The nurse arrived swiftly, using calm methods to stabilize Mr. Lucas and warning them, "The patient needs rest. No more emotional outbursts."novelbin

Ben kept his gaze lowered, lost in thought.

Jamie smiled apologetically at the nurse. "We'll keep that in mind. Thank you."

Once the nurse left, Mr. Lucas, still lying in bed, glared at them, his tone icy. "You nearly drove me to my grave, you ungrateful son."

"The law firm called me," Ben suddenly said, his voice neutral.

A flicker of guilt flashed across Mr. Lucas's face, so brief it could have been missed. But Ben caught it.

Seeing his father's reaction, Ben felt both bitter and absurd.

Jamie, too, looked stunned, struggling to believe it.

It was really Mr. Lucas who had reported him!

"Why would you do this, Mr. Lucas?" Jamie demanded, her voice trembling with anger and disbelief.

"Ben hasn't taken a single day off since stepping into the company. He's worked himself to the bone, barely even sleeping. Just recently, he had a fever of 102 degrees, and the moment his temperature broke, he was back at work the next day.

"What has he done to deserve this treatment?"

Mr. Lucas's expression faltered slightly, his emotions flickering when he heard about Ben's illness.

But he quickly masked it with cold reasoning. "It's his duty. Who else is capable of stepping into my role if not him?"

Jamie was appalled.

All of this, just because of that?

"But isn't there someone else? I'm not your only son," Ben's voice dripped with sarcasm as he threw a pointed look at his father.

Mr. Lucas's face darkened as if he'd been struck. "You want your younger brother to take over?"

"Well, why not? If I can do it, why can't he? Fairness should go both ways," Ben countered, his tone laced with mockery.

"Your brother can't take over the company. He's-" Mr. Lucas's voice broke off mid-sentence, his fury nearly causing him to blurt out more than he intended.

But Ben already saw through it. "A recently acknowledged illegitimate son still has inheritance rights. If we're both your sons, you should treat us equally."

Mr. Lucas's expression darkened. Jamie half-expected him to lose control entirely and start hurling insults.

Pointing a trembling finger at Ben, Mr. Lucas gasped out, "Get out of here!"

"Well, if you don't want me here, then I won't impose," Ben said coolly. He hadn't intended to stay long anyway. He had said his piece, and that was enough.

Mr. Lucas had schemed against Ben in secret, and now Ben had hit back with equal force. To him, the score was settled.

What they hadn't expected was the old saying, "speak of the devil and he shall appear", to come true in such a literal way.

As they stepped out of the hospital room, a man appeared right in front of them.

The man spotted them from a distance and immediately toned down his cocky grin. Dressed in a black leather jacket with buttons glinting under the fluorescent lights, he approached with an easy stride.

"Hey, bro. And this must be your wife, huh? Both of you here to visit Dad too?"
