Chapter 1482
Jamie's clothes were torn to shreds. She didn't resist as she knew it would be useless and would only make things worse. The more anger she provoked, the harder her days became. But her unresponsive, puppet-like demeanor only further irritated Ben. "Are you even alive?" he snapped.
"What do you want me to do?" Jamie whispered, her voice thick with frustration.ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
"Do exactly what you did in those photos, but in front of me right now."
The memory of those humiliating poses flooded back, making her wish, just for a second, that her heart would simply stop, ending the torment.
"I saved every one of those photos. You don't want Charlie to see them, do you...?"
"I'll do it," Jamie interrupted, scrambling to sit up. She had no choice. For her son, she would endure anything.
That night, Ben didn't let up until dawn. Only then did he leave, heading to the office after a quick shower, catching a few hours of sleep there.
Jamie stayed behind, lying awake in bed, staring at the ceiling in the dim morning light. She was wondering when, if ever, this would all end.
She had barely slept when she finally got up, covering the marks on her neck with foundation and pulling on a high-necked blouse. Downstairs, Winnie was already waiting with breakfast.

"Late riser these days, aren't you? Sometimes wonder if you're out partying at night," Winnie joked, handing her a plate with a warm smile I'm just kidding, of course. Honestly, I'm glad you're sleeping in. You need the rest."
Jamie didn't respond, only sighing inwardly. If only Winnie knew. Her late nights weren't because she was mindlessly scrolling on her phone, but rather because someone else had been pushing her far past her limits.

"Staying up late catches up with you eventually," Winnie went on. "You might not feel it now, but someday, all those missed hours will show. Better to take care of yourself while you can." Winnie set a small bottle of liquid iron supplement beside Jamie's plate. "This is for boosting iron levels. Jack bought it for me, but it's good for you too."
"It's yours," Jamie replied, pushing it back. She didn't want to take anything of her sister's, especially something from Ben.
"It's just a supplement! Take it, we're sisters. No need for all this formality," Winnie insisted, her brows furrowed. "And after breakfast, I'm coming with you to the hospital."
"Forget it, you're pregnant. The smell of disinfectant in the hospital is too strong. I don't want you to get nauseous," Jamie said, trying to avoid inconveniencing Winnie. "Do you even see me as your sister? I've been to the hospital loads of times! Lately, you feel so distant from me."
Jamie felt the truth of her sister's words but couldn't ignore the rift between them. It was a divide created by Ben that she couldn't mend. Yet, under Winnie's persistence, they left together.

Outside Charlie's hospital room, Jamie ran into Ryan, who held two cartons of milk. Seeing her, he quickly approached.
"I came by to check on Charlie," he said with a gentle smile. "Just a little something for him."
