Chapter 21 Catching Adultery in the Act
Blanche rummaged through the closet, but no one was inside. Her eyes turned scarlet with anxiety as she ran to the bathroom. The door wouldn't open, and she burst it open with a bang. The panel cracked.
"Erin."
"Well, your wife is short-tempered."
Nicky was dumbfounded. Given the situation, he believed that Blanche might kill that woman on the spot if she found the latter.
He didn't expect Blanche to have such a short temper.
"Tch, what do you know? Other women catching adulterers carry knives. Blanche is much gentler." Daniel shook his head, turning to look at Louis.
"Boss, this is your fault. Your wife may not be pretty, but how could you cheat on her? You're only three days into your marriage, and you're already keeping a mistress. That's harsh. As I see it, you'd better hand over the person before she's found. Or it could cost a life."
Louis almost spat out blood. This was all nonsense. He kicked Daniel and cursed.
"That's bullshit. Shut the fuck up."
"Why did you kick me..." Daniel protested.
The bathroom was empty. Blanche came out quickly, sweat beading on her forehead. She looked lost in thought.
"Blanche, she's not here," Daniel said sympathetically. "There's no one in this house. Take it easy. Even if Louis cheated, you shouldn't hurt yourself."
"What the fuck are you babbling about?" Louis snapped, darting a cold glance at Daniel. "I'm here playing cards and drinking coffee. Do you think I'm cheating on you?"
He had cheated on her with a woman named Erin. Was this a joke?
Louis glared at Blanche, who was still standing there frozen. He wished he could eat her alive. This woman had some serious skills to be able to accuse him of cheating while he was playing cards with his decade-long friends.
Blanche was consumed with thoughts of Erin and refused to listen to anyone. Her heart was beating faster as she realized that this was the second-to-last room she had searched around, and Erin was still not there. That meant she must be in the last room.
Blanche couldn't think of anything else as she quickly walked outside, apologizing as she went.
"Sorry, I went to the wrong..."
Louis was furious and grabbed Blanche as she walked past him quickly.
"What do you think you're doing? You've nearly torn this house down looking for someone named Erin."
She had barged in and started turning the place upside down while shouting someone's name. That was not something fancy.
"It hurts!" Blanche cried out as Louis grabbed her.
Louis glared at her, and only then did she realize that he was there. No wonder she had gotten a familiar feeling earlier.
The man wasn't just grabbing her hand. He was squeezing it punitively.
"Let go! I need to find someone!" Blanche protested.
"Searching for someone? Haven't you finished? You almost tore the house down. Blanche! What's gotten into you? I have some free time to play cards, and you come here to cause trouble." From NôvelDrama.Org.
Blanche tried to jerk her hand away, but it remained trapped.
"Who's causing trouble? I'm here to find someone."
Louis' face clouded over with anger.
"You're so stubborn!"
Daniel watched as Louis gripped Blanche's hand tightly. He had been kicked just now, and now he was more convinced that Louis was keeping a mistress. His boss was acting like a cornered dog.
"Boss, let go of her. She's in pain and about to cry. Can't you see she's so upset that she's come to catch adultery in the act? She must really care about you."
Bullshit! She was just deliberately causing him trouble.
Louis glared at Daniel. "What is your problem?"
Blanche struggled but couldn't break free. Her heart raced with anxiety, and she gritted her teeth in anger.
"What is your problem? Let go of me! My hand is going to break! If you don't let go, you'll have to compensate me with yours."
Louis was furious. He stared at Blanche, who was accusing him of making a scene. Irritated, he refused to loosen his grip and threatened her.
"I'm ordering you to explain your ridiculous behavior tonight. If you don't, I will throw you out of the window and drop you off from the eighth floor."
Blanche glanced at the window, her heart pounding with fear. If anything happened to Erin, this man would be an accomplice.
She decided not to argue and instead focused on Louis' exposed, robust arm from his rolled-up sleeve. She bent down, her sharp teeth quickly and accurately biting into his flesh.
Louis felt as if a chunk of his flesh had been torn off, and he roared in pain.
"Let go!"
Blanche grumbled, "You let go first."
As she bit down harder, Louis' grip weakened, and he finally released Blanche.
Once freed, Blanche straightened up, wincing in pain. She shook her hand, wondering if it was broken.
She felt the coolness on her lips and touched her mask. Her fingers were stained with something red, and her eyes widened in shock. It was blood.
She looked at Louis, whose arm bore a bloody wound from her bite. The blood was oozing out.
Louis stared at Blanche in disbelief. Was this damn woman trying to bite off his flesh to eat?
"You're so dead!"
"Can you blame me? You're the one who wouldn't let go."
Blanche shivered, sensing the unfavorable situation, and ran off.
