Chapter 9
Could she be the virgin who altered the color of Frederick's eyes?
Carson studied her picturesque face and a faint hint of familiarity sparked in him inexplicably. Immediately, a pang of realization hit him.
Subsequently, he chuckled and took the initiative to greet her. "Hey! I'm Frederick's friend, Carson Vives!"
"Nice to meet you, I'm Alicia Blanchard!"
The man was being polite, therefore Alicia returned the gesture by giving him a warm smile. It was her principle to be kind to those who are kind to her.
"You guys are-" Following that, Carson's gaze fell on the shopping bags that Alicia was holding and found it somewhat unbelievable. Frederick went shopping with a woman? Were there pigs flying?
Alice noticed that they had their arms around each other and they seemed close. Thus, Alicia did not hesitate and replied frankly, "We're going home for dinner!"
Instantly, Carson widened his eyes with shock, so much so that his eyeballs almost fell out of his sockets. He asked quickly, "Which home?" They were even having dinner together? Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
How far did their relationship progress?
In the meantime, Alicia seemed confused and she was taken aback by Carson's question too. Frederick had many homes?
"Mind your own business!"
Immediately, Frederick pushed Carson away upon finishing his sentence and strode away. On the other hand, Alicia was unaware that Frederick's remarks were meant for Carson. Following that, she pouted and made a face at Frederick's back before following after him. At the same time, she waved to Carson, who was next to her, to bid farewell.
"Well be leaving first. See you again!"
Meanwhile, Carson was amused by her adorable behavior. He watched them leave and there was a playful smile in his eyes.
On the other hand, Alicia no longer went home to get the gifts because Frederick intercepted their trip. After that, they got in the car and she called her mother on her cell phone to reassure her mother. She thought that it was just a casual dinner but she realized that it was crowded when she entered the house.
She ignored Frederick throughout the journey, yet she tugged his finger out of reflex the moment she stepped into the house.
Frederick felt Alicia's concern and his fingers interlocked with hers firmly. He then led her to the couch at a corner of the room. The first one to get up was a beautiful middle- aged woman who preserved her youth.
"Frederick's back? The whole family is waiting for you!"
Frederick ignored the middle- aged woman who spoke and he turned to the other end. He called, "Grandma—"
"Hmph!"
Meanwhile, it was clear that Mrs. Clements was dissatisfied and that made Alicia's heart sank.
She was screaming internally when she noticed that Mrs. Clements turned her head and the latter's expression softened immediately. Mrs. Clements asked, "Oh my! Did you finally bring her back?"
Following that, Mrs. Clements got up excitedly as if she had found a treasure. She was overjoyed and exclaimed, "Well, you didn't fool me this time! Come on, come and sit down!"
On the other hand, Alicia was a little confused and she stole a glance around her. However, she noticed that the reaction of his family members was divided into two very different groups. A part of them was delighted but some seemed upset.
Initially, Alicia thought that she was walking into a trap but surprisingly, Mrs. Clements did not pester her with questions after getting to know her name and occupation.
After getting to know members of the Clements family, Alicia had a hunch that Frederick was cold to everyone except for his grandmother. Relatively speaking, he was seemingly nicer to his uncle's family than his own father.
Additionally, she noticed an odd condition in his family. Currently, the elder men in the family and Frederick had unique-looking navy eyes. However, the others had jet black eyes and that made Frederick stood out among the younger generation.
That night, Frederick sat by his grandmother's side but spoke very little. Immediately, Alicia felt a strong sense of loneliness from him! Indeed, small groups were formed among members of the family but he seemed to be the odd one out who kept to himself. For a moment, Alicia was pained by this sight.
Soon, dinner was ready and everyone gathered around to eat. Alicia took some roasted vegetables but placed them on Frederick's plate first. She was returning the favor for the chicken nuggets that he had placed in her plate earlier on.
