Chapter 84
"White wolf," the room was filled with murmur, all were discussing only one thing and that was my origin.
The boy's eyes glinted as he moved toward me. I could feel the tension rise in the air, thick and heavy like a storm about to break.
Nathan didn't waste a second, stepping to my side and pulling me into his arms. His grip was firm, but I could feel the fear lacing his protectiveness.
Tristan, however, was more direct. He stepped in front of me, his broad shoulders blocking my view of Ryan entirely. "What do you want? Ryan" Tristan growled, his voice low, warning.
Ryan smirked, unfazed by the hostility radiating off the twins. His gaze shifted past Tristan and landed on me, that glint in his eye intensifying. "It's not about what I want," he said, his voice smooth and calm, as though we were simply discussing the weather. "It's about what *you* want, Ella."
My stomach tightened.
"You want answers, don't you?" Ryan's words were quiet, almost coaxing. "I can give them to you. About the white wolves. About the things no one else will tell you."
The mention of the white wolves sent a chill down my spine. That mystery had been gnawing at me since the moment I'd first heard the whispers, the legends. If Ryan truly had answers, it was an opportunity I couldn't pass up.
"I can meet you tonight," he continued, "Eight o'clock. The clearing by the old riverbed. Alone."
Nathan tensed beside me, his arm tightening protectively. "You've got to be kidding if you think she's going anywhere alone with you," he spat.
"It's your choice, Ella." His focus was entirely on me.
For a long moment, I didn't say anything. Tristan turned slightly, his eyes burning with disbelief as he searched my face. "You're not seriously considering this," he said, his voice edged with frustration.
But I *was* considering it. I need answers.
"I'll be there," I said, my voice steady, though my heart was pounding.
Nathan let out a curse, and Tristan's face twisted with barely contained fury. "Ella, no—"
"I'm going," I interrupted, locking eyes with Ryan. "I'll meet you at eight."
Ryan's smirk grew, satisfied, and he turned to leave without another word. The twins stood there, seething, their anger palpable.
The Alpha Conference began soon after, the grand hall filling with packs from all over the region. I barely registered the formalities, the speeches. My mind was focused on the meeting with Ryan and the secrets I might finally uncover. But then, everything shifted when Alpha Rambo, took the stage as the keynote speaker, who I later found out happens to be Ryan's father.
The moment his gaze landed on me, his expression darkened. His voice boomed through the hall, commanding and cold. "Why is she here?"
His words cut through the crowd like a knife, and all eyes turned toward me. I stood tall, refusing to shrink under the weight of his glare.
"I want her escorted out immediately," Alpha Rambo barked, his eyes narrowing with contempt.
The room buzzed with murmurs. I could feel the judgment, the hostility, but I didn't
care.
"I'm not leaving," I said, my voice steady and loud enough to be heard over the whispers.
Alpha Rambo's eyes flared with fury, but I didn't look away. I wasn't afraid of him, or any of them.
"I'm not leaving," I repeated. The room fell into an uneasy silence, the Alphas exchanging glances, clearly unsure of what to make of my defiance. But I wasn't finished. "In fact, I'm requesting that you bring Sara back to the conference."
Tristan and Nathan stood behind me, tense and ready to react, but I pressed forward, keeping my focus on Alpha Rambo.
"Sara belongs here just as much as anyone else in this room," I continued, my heart racing but my voice steady. "You may not like it, but the days of excluding pow
female werewolves from these decisions are over. We deserve a place at this table, and I think it's time you all realize that."
Alpha Rambo's lips curled in disdain, but before he could speak, I pressed on. "You pride yourselves on leading with strength and honor, but how can this conference be legitimate if you're shutting out voices simply because of gender? We need a democratic process, one that includes everyone. And that means
bringing Sara back. It means allowing female representatives to stand as equals here."
The room went deathly quiet as my words hung in the air. I could feel the eyes of every Alpha in the room on
me, some with curiosity, oth
hostility. Alpha Rambo's jaw clenched, his nostrils flaring, but he was no longer in control of the moment. I could see the doubt
creeping into his eyes.
Alpha Rambo, for all his bravado, was losing control of the narrative. I could see it
in his clenched fists, the way his eyes darted toward the other Alphas as they
whispered among themselves.
"Are you afraid of a vote, Alpha Rambo?" I asked, challenging him directly. "Because if you're so confident in your stance, then why not let the Alphas decide?"
The room went still. Alpha Rambo's eyes burned into mine, and for a moment, I thought he might refuse. But then, to my surprise, he stepped back, a sneer on his face.
"Fine," he growled. "Let's have a vote."noveldrama
The room erupted into murmurs once more as the Alphas discussed among themselves. One by one, they raised their hands, their expressions a mix of reluctance and resignation. But the decision was clear.
Unanimous approval.
Me and Sara would stay.
The weight that had been pressing down on me suddenly lifted, replaced with a rush of victory. I glanced back at Tristan and Nathan, who both looked stunned but relieved.
As the meeting adjourned for the day, I couldn't shake the feeling that this small victory was just the beginning of something much larger.
Just as I was about to leave, I overheard hurried whispers from a group nearby. The Beta of the Moonlake Pack was speaking with Alpha Rambo, his face drawn with worry. I moved closer, catching fragments of their conversation.
"A large group of rogues has gathered near the Moonlake Pack's territory," the Beta said in a low voice. "They're preparing to attack."
Alpha Rambo's expression darkened, his eyes narrowing. "How many?" he asked, his voice deadly calm.
"Too many," the Beta responded grimly. "We need to act quickly, or they'll overwhelm us."
I felt a shiver run down my spine.
