Branch Thirty Nine
Coming back in with Doctor Xavier pushes his grandfather on the wheelchair into the ward Jessica was staying in. Jessica turns when she heard the door open and sirs up straight
Her eyes light up as she sets her eyes on Dawson in the wheelchair. Ever since she met him this was the first time she saw him outside of the ward. She was still planning on taking him home.
“How do you feel today Mrs. Delgado? ” the doctor asked rubbing the alcohol-based sanitizer before touching her.
“Much better,” She said.
“Could you lie down for me I would like to check something” the doctor responded.
Jessica nodded before laying down on her back. Xavier moved Dawson in the chair away from the door and they both waited silently at the couch area.
“Your vitals are stable and I think you can be discharged this afternoon” he continued.
“Thank you, doctor,” Jessica said with a smile on her face.
Usually, her cramps lasted three days before they finally die down, and then she would be able to do what she had to do. She has never had a reason to visit the hospital because of cramps but now that she did she was glad she did.
“Are you sure she can go home now? Why don’t you observe her tonight?” Xavier interjected.
“She is doing very well. I would just prescribe some follow-up medicine and supplements she can use. If she feels the pain she can use the medicine but the supplements should be used at bedtime to help her better” Ross said with a smile
“Take care of yourself and use the medicine when needed and you’ll be fine unless you would give your husband a scare” he added.
“What do you mean by that doctor Ross?” Dawson asked his interest now piqued.
“Mr. Delgado made so much of a fuss over his wife when they came in yesterday” Ross answered.
Ross had been worried and checked in multiple times with the doctor even when he was told that there was nothing to be worried about.
“Oh really?” Dawson answers a question with a sly smile climbing on his face.
“Papa drops that sly smile,” Xavier said.
“I did not do anything” Dawson answer quickly and defensively.
“Yeah, you did not” Xavier answered sarcastically.
He did not know what his grandfather was thinking but it was obvious that he was plotting something that would not sit well with them both.
“Doctor thank you so much and I have a question,” Jessica said sitting upright.
Ross moved back and nodded for her to continue her question.
“Can Dawson go home? I feel like he had been cooped up in here for too long. If he can go out I know that he would be better. He can come back in later. I want him to come home” Jessica said in one breath.
Ross was finally happy that someone had said this. He had told Dawson multiple times that it was okay for him to go home and come back when he felt sick. At least that way he would not be alone and bored in the room all day but Dawson had gone on and on about how he doesn’t want to be a burden to his family.
“Of course he can” Ross answered eagerly.
Going home could mean that he could even improve better so Ross was all for it.
“Jessica, stop,” Xavier said with gritted teeth.Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
By the time she met his gaze, she could tell he was not pleased with what she had just done. Oh Shit!
“I would leave you now,” Ross said.
He knew it was his cue to leave hearing the anger in Xavier’s voice. Everyone knew that he had quite a temper and no one was interested in cutting limes with him. Ross silently leaves the room.
“What did I do so wrong this time?” Jessica asked resting her back to the bed frame and rolling her eyes.
She was only looking out for Dawson she wondered why Xavier would be angry to come home and meet an empty house while his grandfather stays in boredom at the hospital.
If he was at home she would keep him company before she starts her business and take him on nice dates, cook for him, and keep him company throughout the day.
“He is my grandfather and I would be the one to make decisions concerning him,” Xavier said his teeth gritted.
He already felt abandoned by his grandfather preferring Jessica over him. Now Jessica wants to keep her nose in their business.
“I thought I was a part of the Delgado family?” Jessica asked throwing back to what he had said earlier.
She felt her blood surge through her veins like someone was pumping them faster than usual. Xavier looked stunned to hear her question. She did not want to be addressed as such if she was going to have a divorce soon.
He opened his mouth to speak and then stopped himself in case he told his secret in front of his unusually silent grandfather. Under normal circumstances, Dawson would have said a lot on the subject matter. His being quiet made Xavier rush to him in concern.
“Are you okay papa?” he asked moving and touching his legs and hands to ensure there was still reflection in them.
“Looming at you two argue. I am convinced you would make a very cute couple despite the contract you signed” Dawson said.
Xavier stood upright and glared at his grandfather before focusing his glare on Jessica.
“I told you not to tell him but you still went ahead to blab. Are you that untrustworthy?” Xavier asked.
He sounded angry but his voice was still very calm. Jessica felt her blood get hotter. She could not believe that this same guy she was just thinking was hot and probably deserved a chance at love was so closed-minded.
She opened her mouth to say something but Dawson beat her to it.
“How can you be so small-minded?” Dawson asked. Xavier recoiled in shock.
“Yes so close-minded. Why do you think I would not know what is going on with you? I have eyes everywhere and Jessica did not tell me anything” Dawson jumped to her defense.
Xavier stopped and stared intensely at his grandfather. For a moment he forgot how influential his grandfather was because he was stuck in the hospital.
“I am sorry” Xavier muttered turning to face Jessica when he realized his mistake.
“I just don’t care. I was looking out for Dawson but you decided to treat me like an outsider. Do whatever you want to do and I would mind my business” Jessica said laying back down in annoyance.
“You are very foolish,” Dawson said rolling his chair to the bedside.
