A Captive Situation: Chapter 30
The inside of the pub was busier than it looked from the outside. Long tables lined out from the walls, filled to the brim with people. There were some my age, but the majority were younger, in their twenties. I caught sight of the college shirts on multiple groups and learned that this was a college bar.
This meet was taking place here?
Jake wove through the crowd with an easy deftness. He was right. This sort of stuff was where he excelled. He looked comfortable and at ease, relaxed while my legs were still knocking into each other. The whole comment that he’d been trained for this still nagged at me. I was looking at him with new eyes, looking for that earlier training.
I didn’t like the thought that he’d gone through some type of killer training before he was a cop. When was that? Who trained him?
I kept close to him, reaching out and holding on to the back of his flannel at one point.
The crowd was a lot. The press of people had to be violating eighteen different fire codes.
When he felt my touch, he reached back to my hip and yanked me close to him. I was almost hugging him from behind, but he only transferred my hand from his shirt to the side of his pants, tucking my hand into his jeans.
The backs of my fingers rubbed against his warm skin.
I grinned faintly. That felt nice.
It felt . . . It felt right. Like we should’ve been doing this all our life, and why were we only starting now?
As we kept going, one of his arms returned to the back of my hip, keeping me to him. When he switched directions, he pulled me with him, making it all happen so smoothly.
I had a brief wonder of how he was as a dancer. I bet he was good at it.
More than a few heads turned our way when we first got into the pub. Those eyes were on Jake. I saw the notice in some women’s gazes, more than a few showing blatant interest, but the crush of the people took us away from them. However, as we kept moving through the first section of the building and into a back section, more women caught sight of Jake.noveldrama
A few blinked widely as we passed in front of them.
A few reached out to touch him, but he paid them no attention.
I snuck a peek from the side. Jake was laser-focused ahead, scanning every face with a professional efficiency that he must’ve perfected as a cop.
Or that training, a small voice whispered in the back of my mind.
That was going to bother me for a while. I wanted to know what all happened to him before he joined the police force.
But that way he was surveying everyone, it was with hawklike precision.
When he caught sight of his target, everything changed. His body tensed. He was locked on. Laser focused.
He moved us to the edge of a group and pulled me in front of him, angling us so my back was to a group behind me. We rested our shoulders against the wall. He was in front of me, his chest to mine. His hand slid up my thigh, around my ass, and he slipped it under my shirt, holding me against him.
That felt nice too.
He dipped his head down to my neck, breathing me in as he was watching behind me.
I shivered, unable to hold back anymore.
Being with him, feeling how he maneuvered me, and now as we were standing like this as a cover to watch for someone, the blanket of lust was too heavy on me. He doused me in him. His touch. His heat. The aroma that was uniquely him. Pinewood and leather.
I pressed against him, sliding my arms around him. He felt so good. The rub against him.
I was breathing him in.
He pulled back enough to look down at me. His eyes found mine, but whatever he saw, he blinked before his hand went to the back of my head. He pressed me closer against him and said into my ear, “Go ahead. I’ll keep watch.”
A full haze fell over me.
His words only penetrated enough so I understood he was telling me not to hold back. I could get lost in him all I wanted.
I lifted my mouth, my lips found his for one long, drawn-out kiss before he pulled back, switching us so my back was completely against the wall. One of his hands stayed in my hair. The other was holding the wall behind me. He pinned me in place, but his mouth fell to my shoulder before he turned, watching to the side.
That was fine.
With the press of other people around us, the shadows in the pub, no one could see what we were doing unless they were immediately next to us, and those people weren’t focused on us at all. Within that crowded pub, we had a relative moment of privacy.
I indulged.
As I lifted my leg up, Jake’s hand fell to it, raising it over his hip, and I closed my eyes, enjoying feeling him hit between my legs. His hand tightened over my leg. He closed any last distance there was between us.
I rolled my hip, moving over him, rubbing against him, and it felt fucking amazing.
Sensation soared through me, spreading. It took me over.
I was grinding on him, and I kept going.
The pleasure was building. Rising.
I moved faster, harder. Rolling my hips and pressing down over his bulge. He was hitting me exactly where I needed him.
Jake breathed heavily into my ear, his mouth falling to taste my neck. His hand gripped higher on my leg, closer to my ass. He urged me to go faster.
I couldn’t quite hit the right way, not fully, but with a slight growl in my ear, Jake moved and he got the exact right angle.
I bit down on my lip, trying to smother my groan.
“No,” he said sharply. His lips moved over mine, not letting me bite down. He sucked where my teeth had just been, and I felt like I was going to combust because that felt so good too.
Too soon, the pressure exploded. The waves throbbed through me. I rested my forehead on his shoulder, riding them out.
His dick was still hard, the bulge pressed up and into me through our clothes, but he didn’t make any move to relieve himself. He continued holding me until I drifted back to reality, raising my head back and blinking past the haze.
He was watching me, his eyes heated.
Oh . . .
We were in public and I—embarrassment flooded me until Jake’s mouth was on mine again. Hard. Demanding. He clipped out, “Whatever you’re fucking thinking, stop. That was the best goddamn thing to experience.” He gave me another kiss before turning and looking to the side. He cursed. “Can you move? Are you steady?”
I nodded, still reeling from what I’d just done and where.
“Good,” he grunted, giving me a firm kiss on the forehead. “We need to move.”
He stepped back, easing me down until I was standing on my feet. When I was solid enough, I gave him a nod. He took my hand, threading our fingers together, and led the way through the pub once again.
We were moving to the back.
“Baby.” A drunk guy grabbed my arm. His beer breath accosted me as he pressed up against me. “How about you and me take a trip to the bathr—” He choked off his words because in the next instant, Jake took his arm and shoved him back, going with him until he was slammed into the nearest wall. A bunch of people scattered, jumping out of the way. They weren’t happy. Some were shaking off their drinks that had been spilled.
Jake didn’t pay them attention. He was all in that guy’s space, bending down, leaning over him. His shirt was pulled taut over his back, showing just how rigid he was.
I blinked, all of it happened so fast, but I took a step to the side and blanched.
The guy’s eyes were wide, panicked. I saw why.
Jake had his gun out, pressed underneath the guy’s jawline.
Whatever he was saying, it had an effect. The guy swallowed nervously, his eyes darting from Jake to where he could feel the gun. He began nodding, his eyes begging, until Jake shoved him back.
I moved in, instinct telling me to touch him.
As I did, saying his name, he turned for me.
I almost took a step back at seeing his expression. Jake was stone cold.
In that moment, he was every bit of the killer that I knew he could be.
I didn’t think this was his police academy training. A premonition fell over me, like a shadow that coated me. I knew, somehow, maybe it was a gut feeling, but I just knew that this was the face of the training he mentioned from his childhood.
What had happened to him?
What do you think?
